Hey guys! Hope you had a great weekend! My sister got into town & I’m not going to lie- I love having a roomie again :). With November over halfway through, how about a quick recap on my current favorites of the month so far:
Current Book: Gone Girl was the last book I read & you know I LOVED it. I’m thinking about starting The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo next- anyone read it?
Current Guilty Pleasure: With the exception of this past weekend when I wasn’t feeling well, I’ve gotten into a routine of heading out for a run at 6:30 AM on Saturday mornings with 2 close friends. While getting up at 5.45 AM isn’t always the easiest, it helps knowing I’ll be seeing their faces. But what’s even better comes post-run: showering and getting back into bed with breakfast. It’s definitely a pleasure, but I’m not so sure I really feel guilty about it.
Current Music: MKTO’s Classic– how can you NOT be happy when this comes on?!

Current Instagram Fave: Kevin Curry a.k.a. FitMenCook. You guys need to check him out ASAP! Aside from being nice on the eyes, his recipes are mouth-watering and crazily easy. I plan to try a bunch of this recipe while my sis is in town including his BBQ Turkey & Sweet Potato Sliders & Quinoa Blueberry Banana Breakfast Muffins…BOOM!
Current TV Show: How to Get Away with Murder– definitely one to watch if you’re into criminal law TV shows!
Current Drink: Fresh coconut water…gotta pack in those electrolytes!
Current Obsession: 1 month later & I finally got my iPhone 6…in gold. It was definitely worth the wait– aside from the features, it just looks so sleek! Heck having a phone with a battery life longer than 2 hours alone is worth celebrating!
Current Food: I’m loving lettuce wraps lately, especially these Cajun Shrimp & Chicken Lettuce Wraps with Avocado Pesto. Make the Avocado Pesto NOW by blitzing together a generous chunk of super riper avocado with minced garlic, lots of fresh chopped basil & lemon juice- totally yum!
Current Need: Nothing comes to mind!
Current Bane of My Existence: Lack of taste due to a runny nose. With the amount of tissue papers I’ve gone through this weekend, I have definitely not done my bit for the environment. Also on the topic of runny noses, is it socially appropriate to blow your nose in public?
Current Indulgence: Am I the only one who finds it incredibly indulgent to drink a Starbucks order out of a red cup…even if that drink is just a cappucinno. I’m sure drinking one of their seasonal drinks out of a red cup would feel even more indulgent…Christmas Cookie Latte anyone?
Current Blessing: Becoming an aunt. Although my sis has been pregnant for 5 months, touching/seeing her bump this weekend just made it all the more real- exciting times ahead without a doubt!
Current Mood: I’m writing this on Sunday evening so I’m feeling pretty relaxed!
Current Triumph: I added “See my name in print” to my Bucket List back in 2010. I crossed that off a few years ago, but it felt a little more legit after seeing my name printed in this month’s issue of Vogue:
Current Link: The Way Kids Answer One Question About Their Bodies is A Striking Reminder For Adults —> brilliant!

Those lettuce wraps look so good! I’ve been enjoying fish lately – I don’t eat it often enough! I had some smoked haddock with chili and chive butter for dinner last night and it was amazing.
Oh wow that sounds amazing! I don’t eat fish enough at home either!
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is awesome! I highly recommend the series. So cool that you’re in Vogue!
Excellent- I think I will be buying a copy soon!
OMG that’s so cool that you were in Vogue!!! Congrats! 🙂
And I used to always climb back into bed to eat my breakfast, too! Now that I’m married I don’t think my husband would like finding crumbs in my bed, but I always loved getting under the covers again!
Thanks Liz :)! Haha oh no, I better enjoy breakfast in bed while I’m still single!!
Yay for the new iPhone! I freaking love mine, and I -finally- got used to having the lock button on the side, so going back and holding one of the older iPhones just feels weird now. Plus… how amazing is that camera?!
I tried to get into Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, but I couldn’t get past the first few couple of chapters. I dunno. A lot of people told me it was a good one, though!
Aaaaand… I hear ya on the red cups. Too.freaking.GOOD.
I’m shocked by this. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is a fantastic book, and I actually read them all. I would have thought you would have really enjoyed it.
I say go for it Khushboo.
That’s promising to know that you’re a fan :)!
The only bad thing about those red cups is that my Starbucks expenditure seems to have multiplied over the past week- can’t stop.won’t.stop!!!
I’ve decided that the red cups just make everything so much better in life. I have the iPhone 6 as well but I haven’t been able to master the camera stuff! Totally want to ;).
I haven’t used the camera too much yet but I’m looking forward to playing around with it!
SO I’ve heard Girl with the Dragon Tattoo can be very graphic. I haven’t read it, but I was warned. I loved Gone Girl. Have you seen the movie? I also have a gold iPhone 6 and I love, love, love it! Especially the camera – that is my favorite feature 🙂
I’m so excited to play around with the camera…I haven’t yet :)!
Yay for getting published! That’s a huge accomplishment! So proud of you.
A recent IG favorite of mine (as you know) is The Fat Jewish. He’s not always appropriate or PC but he’s always funny. 🙂
Thanks so much, P! The Fat Jewish is hilaaaarious- I think he pots what everyone else is thinking haha!
Congrats again on the Vogue feature. So cool!
Also those lettuce wraps look phenomenal. I love making sauces with avocado. It makes the perfect creamy base!
Thanks so much, Chelsea…on both notes! Have you tried making avocado pasta sauce?
I’ve made an avocado miso sauce for soba noodles once, but I still want to try the one that Oh She Glows posted a few years ago! I think it maybe had basil in it?
Love Oh She Glows recipes- so delish!
You’re in Vogue?! Dude… you’ve arrived! Congrats!
Mwahah thanks, homie!
A Vogue feature?! Hellooo, famous lady! If it’d been over here I’d have bought the issue just to tell people I “knew” you :D.
You’re becoming an aunt? ?That’s amazing. I’m kind of jealous but on the other hand my sister being pregnant would feel weird to me. We’re only three years apart and I’m also afraid a baby would somehow tear us apart. Yes, I know that’s an odd fear. Anyway, so exciting you’rll be an aunt in a mere four months.
Ah thanks so much! Aww that’s an odd, but also a very sweet, fear! Who’s the elder sister?
I know it’s odd. But we already get to see each other only once in a while and I’d assume with a baby it’d be even less. She’s the older one.
Not weird at all :)!
The Vogue feature is awesome and amazing news. Great job!!
Thanks so much, Meg :D!
Wow so cool you are in Vogue! Congratulations on entering Auntiehood! Very exciting! And those lettuce wraps look amazing!
Thanks, Jess :D!
Girl – congrats on making it into Vogue!!! Wow!!!!
I checked out FitMenCook and I sure love those pictures o his with his feet sticking out from under the table the food is on! Ha!
It got so cold here in Atlanta – I woke up to temps in the teens – but if I could get back into bed after a run, that would be motivation enough for me to get out there! 🙂
Oh I know what you mean- the weather has cooled down over here and it’s almost TOO cozy to get out of bed in the morning!!
I can’t get over that Vogue feature, HUGE congrats about that! I also am loving lettuce wraps lately, but with kale or swiss chard instead.
Thanks Britt! I’m still on the fence about eating kale raw…unless it’s massaged well!
I will eat chicken and shrimp lettuce boats, while doing the VOGUE to celebrate the fact that you were published IN VOGUE!! WHAT UPPP!
Ah you’re awesome, thanks Gigi 🙂
Hey, I follow FitMenCook! Can I have him cook for me, like, often?! And How to Get Away with Murder…newest favorite show for sure.
He is SUCH a stud :)!
