Hey guys! Rather than engage in small talk, I’m going to dive right in:
- After reaching out to my friends on Facebook about whether or not to purchase a Kindle, I bought one since the consensus was largely ‘yes’. In terms of reading, it was probably the best decision I could’ve made. As much as it’s nice to flick through the pages of a ‘real’ book, I have never been more motivated to read. In the past month alone, I’m down 3 books and currently on my fourth. It’s been especially convenient while travelling and on-the-go given it fits into just about all my handbags- win all round!
- Speaking of books, one that I finally got around reading is I am Malala. Guys, what a book! It left me so much gratitude for the life I live and the freedom I experience on a daily basis. We take so much for granted like even being able to wear whatever clothes we please, the opportunity to constantly increase our knowledge, and even just the right to voice our opinions. It’s sad that this is not the case for all females worldwide.
- Although it’s something I mentally swore I would never do, I traded my gym workouts to Crossfit when I got back to Mumbai 6 weeks ago. If you’re not familiar with this style of working out, CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more (Source). Between the group environment & different workouts, I am enjoying it SO much. Although it’s very different to my previous workout regime, I can feel myself getting fitter with each workout. Whether it’s with Crossfit or something else, vary your workouts if you find yourself hitting a wall mentally and/or in terms of progress.
- I usually prefer breakfasts on the sweeter side, but I seem to only crave savory after my morning workouts. A particular favorite was from Wednesday after a morning of squats: an Egg & Cheese Quesadilla with sautéed mushrooms & onions. It totally hit the spot and had a great balance of nutrients. I shared a similar recipe a while ago which you can find here – the only difference is that I left in the egg yolk. The wraps are quite flimsy hence the poor presentation – just keeping it real 😉 !
- I recently started watching the show Shark Tank and I am hooked (pun always intended 😀 ). It’s incredibly inspiring to see how start-ups have transformed into multi-million companies. Especially as my mornings during the week are quite busy, I relish slow-paced Sunday mornings in bed with back-to-back episodes of Shark Tank while lounging with breakfast and coffee (or chai depending on my mood). Talk about finding absolute bliss in the little things in life!
And as a bonus, one-for-the-road, shameless plug:
- Check out a few of my recent Mumbai Mirror articles when you get a free moment this weekend:
What are you currently reading/watching?
What did you eat for breakfast today?
Can I try CrossFit with you next time please?! Fab post, tots taking the recipe for this scrummy quesadilla too! x
Yes please!! I go to the 9 am class so you just say when :D!
m reading a book on taxes, which is not fun but i figure its time to get started. My breakfast has been overnight oat popsicles or protein shake popsicles lately…
These overnight oat popsicles sound like such a fab idea- I need to go back and find that recipe on your blog!
I have a kindle and I have never used it. I just can’t seem to read on it. I need a physical book or an audio book. Malala’s book has been on my night stand for 6 months and I have yet to read it.
Your post reminded me that I need to look for a box near me. I used to Crossfit back in Texas but haven’t for last 4 years.

I think it’s about time you pick up the book and read it- you’ll get through it so quickly too!!
I dig this 5 Things Friday idea! I’ve been thinking about doing something similar.
Go for it, Raj!
