Long time no speak, guys! Between catching up with friends/family in London, attending a friend’s wedding in Vienna and staying on top of work, it’s been a hectic couple of weeks. As it’s been a while since I put up a post, I thought I’d dive right back into it with a mention of a few of my current Foodie Favourites. Before I do, I wanted to link up a few of my recent Mumbai Mirror articles in case you missed them:
- 8 Things To Do When You’re Not Losing Weight
- Heal The Way You Feel
- Foods That Fight Arthritis

And now for the food:
- I consciously gave up all drinks containing artificial sweeteners on January 1st, 2012 and it was probably one of the best health-related choices I’ve made. Despite being a hardcore Diet Coke drinker back in the day, cutting it out from my diet was easier than I ever imagined. I still love the fizz and these refreshing cans of Ugly Water have been giving me my fix without the nasties. It’s just sparkling water infused with natural ingredients- no sugar, no sweetener and nada artificial.
- Although I have quite a strong sweet tooth, I am easy to please when it comes to dessert. I’ll take a bowl of vanilla ice cream over a fancy gateau any day of the week. When I first heard about the luxury ice cream brand Oppo, I was a bit skeptic. Let’s be honest: ‘healthy’ ice creams usually skimp in the taste department. Supercharged with ingredients like virgin coconut oil, lucuma & spirulina, and containing a mere 80 calories per 2 scoops, fortunately Oppo is an exception Out of the 4 flavors, I’ve tried Salted Caramel, Madagascan Vanilla, Mint Choc Swirl chip all taste wonderfully satisfying. I have high hopes for their latest flavour: Colombian Chocolate & Hazelnut.
- Between my last trip to London in November and now, the Danish chain Joe and the Juice seems to have popped up everywhere! Between their epic sandwiches and almond milk cappuccinos, I am thrilled to say the least. My sandwich order rarely changes yet it only seems to taste increasingly delicious each time: Turkey, mozzarella, pesto with added tomato & spinach- HEAVEN!
- Although hardly economical compared to the jars, these on-the-go squeeze sachets of nut butter are ideal when travelling. I usually carry a handful of them in my hand luggage in case of emergency. Add in some rice cakes and/or fruit for a convenient & filling snack….or eat ‘em straight up! I especially like Pip & Nut almond butter as it only contains roasted almonds & sea salt.
- Although this isn’t technically a food, I’m throwing it in because it contains an element of food…in the form of icons. A friend of mine recently gifted me a customised notepad from the luxury bespoke stationery brand Pen & Paper House, which I just adore! I’m a sucker for fun stationery and I mean, could this be any more me??
- I’ve mentioned North Audley Cantine (NAC) on the blog before, but I want to give a special mention to their poké bowls. Originating from Hawaii, poké bowls consist of a mix of raw cubes of seafood (usually ahi tuna or salmon) in a soy sauce-based marinade. They are often garnished with seaweed, cucumber, avocado, or tobiko, and served over rice or greens. Although poké bowls seem to be trending in London, the one served at NAC particularly hits the spot…especially with the inclusion of quinoa instead of rice.
