Hi guys! It’s been a while since I actively set some fitness goals, but lately a bunch have come to mind. While I can’t tackle them all right now, I aim to do so over the next few months. A couple of them include:
- Completing Kayla Itsines 12-week program
- Resuming playing tennis again.
And my current goal: Running the Pinkathon 10 K Race in Mumbai on December 14th, which spreads awareness about women’s fitness & more importantly: breast cancer. Did you know that breast cancer has become the second leading cause of death among women & every 19 seconds, someone in the world has been diagnosed? Rather than wait till it’s our mom, aunt, friend, or even one of us who has been affected, we need to be taking action NOW.
While various factors can contribute to breast cancer, the most significant causes are being female and ageing. Earlier detection, increased knowledge and understanding of the biology of breast cancer and better treatments all help increase survival rates after a diagnosis of breast cancer. Although there is no cure yet for breast cancer, each one of us can be part of the solution.
Truth be told I’m not really running the 10 K with any time goals in mind. I just want to finish the whole thing, preferably without any walk breaks. I’ve started running twice a week, one longish & the other shorter. I’m running the race with 3 other friends so I know it will be a blast. More importantly, I’m excited to do my part (albeit small) & help raise money for breast cancer research. Without sounding like a self-promo, I’d really appreciate if you guys would sponsor me.
Regardless of how big or small you donate, each rupee (or dollar, pound or whatever unit of currency you wish to donate) will contribute towards research into finding a cure. And even if you don’t wish to donate, you can help by merely raising awareness and reducing the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment.

Thanks guys <3!

Running for a good cause is the best! Good luck to you and your friends!
As you know, I’m training for a half marathon right now but I’m also trying to fit in more yoga!
You’re going to do so great in your half marathon :)!
I love the idea of running for a cause!
It’s all the more motivating 🙂
Love it. One of my best friends lost her mother to breast cancer and even though I hate running, I always do the special run Australia has for it.
Big props buddy!
K, I’m confused when trying to donate lol- I don’t understand the currency!
Haha it’s in rupees but you once you click on “Contribute”, you can change it to your preferred currency and make the payment via PayPal. Thanks so much Arman :)!
Thanks so much, Arman :)! That’s such a kind gesture on your behalf- I’m sure it means a lot to your bestie!
Awesome cause, Khushboo! I have yet to actually run my first race, but I think I’d be a lot more motivated to do it if I was running for a good cause. Definitely gonna have to look into that next spring…
Thanks Amanda :)! Running for a good cause is definitely more motivating, especially on those days when you just cannot be bothered to run at all!
What a fantastic and worthwhile cause. Run on my friend, run on. 🙂
Thanks Meg 🙂
Really admire you! fantastic cause. One of my relative died of breast cancer, lack of awareness!
Thanks so much Moin! So sorry to hear about your relative!
YAHOO! I find when I don’t run races with specific goals I always do better. My goals for fitness right now…are just to…GET IN SOME FITNESS everyday. I am swamped by life so all the workouts I do are like mini relievers. I adore my workouts whatever they may be.
