What.a.week!
As I mentioned in my last post, I flew to Cannes over the weekend. I was attending my best friend’s bro’s wedding. I don’t even know where to start, but I’m thinking “unreal” & “magical” sound about right. Other than the venues of each function & La Croisette, I didn’t get a chance to see Cannes so I can’t tell you too much about the city. Although I can tell you that Indians sure know how to party…and that I don’t want to see a bottle of Café Patron for a long time. Gah just the thought of it makes me nauseous. I know downing shots, eating Nutella sticks for breakfast and sleeping 4 hours per night hardly epitomises a healthy living blogger, but I’m just keeping it real here. If it helps my case at all, I kept up with my workouts…on the dance floor :).
Although major post-wedding blues are still in full force, it’s good to be back into routine in terms of food. I got back to London on Tuesday night & hit up the grocery store first thing on Wednesday morning for a few essentials. Based on past experience, I find that stocking my fridge with nutritious options make it all the more easier to eat healthier. It also helps when salads & grilled salmon start to sound way more appealing than a pizza or slice of cake.
Whoever said eating healthy is expensive clearly isn’t doing it right. I got all of the above for £13…not too shabby! Other than that, I’ve been enjoying my last few days in London before I head back to Mumbai. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the rain clears up over the weekend. Unfortunately the weather forecast doesn’t look promising at all. Anyways I just wanted to pop in & say “Hi”– hopefully I will be back to posting normally from next week!
Have a great weekend, guys!
What’s the first thing you do after a vacation?
Where would be your ideal place to get married? If you already are married, where did your wedding take place?
I thought you had decided to leave the blogworld and set camp in Cannes (Although the sound of that sounds amazing… haha)
I’ve been to two Indian weddings and I must say- It is unlike any I’ve ever been to. The colours, the partying, the food, the TIME (One went over 3 days!).
Enjoy your time in London, hopefully you can meet up with our favourite pig 😉
My dream is to retire to Cannes..one day 😀
Oh please post somr pics of the wedding aka you and Mr.Khan 😉
I will using a link to your IG in my post today hope thats ok.
Enjoy the last few days in London.
I am always in the vacation mode for two more days after getting back…lol. Then it hits me and I start cleaning the chocolates(mostly by eating lol)
I got married in a small town but flew to Hawaii four days later so that makes up for it I guess.
😉
Of course you can link to my IG account 😀
Sounds like such a fun weekend! Weddings are always a good time. Actually, I can’t really attest to that because the last time I was at a wedding I was probably 8 or 9? And I’m sure weddings when you’re of legal age are a heck of a lot more fun. 😉
I love the feeling of stocking up on groceries when I get home from vacation. Although if we’re being honest, the first thing I do when I get home from vacation usually is plop down on the couch in front of the tv for a few hours haha.
Haha it’s almost like you NEED to be of legal age to properly enjoy a wedding 😉
Bonus points for getting your workouts in – on the dance floor, in the pool – doesn’t matter where 🙂
Awesome stash you have there for your post-vacay! I, too, have found that fruits and veggies are not as pricey as eating out or raiding the processed food isles!
One of the first things I do when I get back is make me a cup of coffee – I do love MY coffee and after a week or 2 of hotel or Starbucks coffee – I am jonesing for my own version.
I don’t think I have an ideal place – tome, if it’s the ideal guy, place won’t matter… so corny right?!?!?! GAH!
Hoping you have a wonderful time in London before heading to Mumbai – safe travels dear
Ohh I’m so with you about coffee at home- I start to miss it after a while! And I love your approach to weddings- the ideal guy will make any location ideal 😀
Oh Cannes!!! I only know the airport from my Flight Attendant times, but I think it is gorgeous. Good to have you back though girl, I missed you!
I definitely ALWAYS go shopping first thing when I get back. Me and an empty fridge are NOT friends at all.
You were a flight attendant?? Noo way! I’d love to hear more about your experiences!
Indian weddings are kind of like one giant aerobics class! That’s why I never worry about working out – the dance floor is my gym! LOL!
The first thing I do after a vacation is…go grocery shopping! You’re absolutely right, it’s so nice to stock your fridge and pantry with good food because the last thing I want to do is go out to eat again.
And V and I got married in our hometown of Atlanta at a Marriott. It wasn’t picturesque but it fit the bill in terms of what we wanted! 🙂
Hahah I was relating it more to a zumba class but aerobics works too ;)!
Sounds like one hell of a wedding! I don’t think I’ve ever been to one quite that intense before, but I’d like to :-p
My mom went to Fiji a few years ago and was describing a destination wedding that she saw there, and it sounded awesome (it involved the bride being carried in on a platform by hot Fijian men, so that’s probably why I loved the idea so much). I don’t think I would do a destination wedding, but if I changed my mind that’s where I would want to go.
Oh wow that sounds amazing! I’ve never been to Fiji but from what I’ve heard, it is stunning!
Goodness, sounds like a super fun weekend!
Pretty sure I’d love to attend something like that, sounds like a great great time.
Stocking up on groceries after a trip is the best feeling. I love having my regular foods back in rotation after being away.
I actually don’t want to get married – so no ideal place for me!
Nothing beats a fully stocked fridge 😀
I’ve missed youuuuu! But I’m glad to hear that you had an awesome time dancing, drinking, and eating good food — it’s all about balance, right?
I’m not entirely sure where I’d like to get married, but I know that I want a small wedding with just family and friends in some far off place. At first I thought I wanted a big local wedding with tonnes of people, but an intimate getaway just feels so much more my style.
Oh, and post-vacationining? I SLEEP.
Our approach to weddings are so in sync- I want a small one too with only close friends & family whose presence actually matter!
Girl, you went to CANNES for a wedding! Man, that must have been some wedding. Yes, desis do know how to party. I visited Cannes 2 years ago, but I was in love with Nice.. definitely worth another visit. 🙂
My ideal wedding location would be Santorini, it is paradise, I can only imagine with a sunset backdrop how amazing the experience would be. I got married in Jersey at a hotel… so cliche.
Oh wow getting married in Santorini would be so beautiful…and romantic 😀
a wedding in Cannes doesn’t sound too shabby! It is SO beautiful there. Don’t blame you for the post-wedding blues. I’d love to get married on a vineyard in california…dream big right? Ha definitely not going to happen!
Oh that would be awesome! If it happens, please remember me when you draft your guest list 🙂
Indian weddings do rock. I went to a Pakistani wedding once, and it was over the top and incredible. Talk about some serious jamming on the dance floor.
When I get home from vacation, I head to the grocery and restock. Like you, I’m usually craving salads and tons of veggies. Have a great rest of your trip and safe travels home.
Haha yep- we pretty much tear down the dance floor ;)!
Everyone went to this wedding!! Half my relatives were there lol.. Wish I could have come too! My dad was actually here so I also went overboard on the indulgence, but absolutely nothing beats the feeling of the huge whole foods shopping bag I lugged back after.. Pb&b oatmeal never tasted so good 🙂
I want to get married in Greece.. Athens maybe. Or Mykonos!! 🙂
Ah a shopping bag full of Whole Foods goodies is always exciting :D! A friend of mine married in Athens- I couldn’t make it but it looked awesome!
I wish I could contribute something valuable to this discussion but I haven’t been in a real vacation in SO long my advice is pretty much moot haha. But I am glad you enjoyed the wedding, sleep deprivation aside. 🙂
Thanks Gina :D!
I’ve never been to an Indian wedding but they look intense! I can’t wait to hear more about it over a burger/fro yo 😉
And I can’t wait to hear about the new JOB!
That is pretty amazing for all that food! I’m guessing Marks? Love Marks. Please have a nicoise for me?
Cannes is so beautiful. It was a stop on our honeymoon 100 years ago. I still remember how great that city was.
Ah I love Marks but this loot was from Sainsbury…will have to remember to try the nicoise on my next trip (no meals left to give it a shot now)!
That beachfront—gorgeous! And Nutella sticks for breakfast doesn’t sound so bad 😉
Breakfast of Champions ;)!
Clever title, girlie…very impressed! And I also love that you share the healthy and the not-so healthy moments on the blog…love your intro paragraph! It really is all about balance and just, well…LIVING LIFE!
The first thing I do after vacation is unpack! Ha! Yeah right! Usually I’m still living out of my suitcase a week later! Most of the time I hit up the grocery store or farmers’ market…I’m with you, having the fridge stocked with healthy food always helps get back on track!
Haha I’m glad you appreciated my attempts at being punny…er I mean funny ;)!
