Fall favorites

Hey guys! I am glad you enjoyed reading my last post on what a day at Le Cordon Bleu is like.  With the end of my course in sight, the next few weeks are full of assessments.  While it is quite stressful, the inner nerd in me (#NoShameInMyGame) is also on somewhat of a high.

The weather in London has been quite confusing.  Although it’s November, department stores are decked with boughs of holly and the street Christmas lights are slowly coming on, some days it still feel like fall is in full swing.  As much as I love summer, I have developed a soft spot for fall this year- everything about it is just so dreamy. Case in point:

Fall in London
Aside from the gorgeous colours of Nature, here are a few of my current Fall Favourites:

  • Although it doesn’t always happen, I try to visit the farmers’ market on Sunday mornings when time permits.  Even if I’m not necessarily buying, it’s awesome to see what’s out there.  And I mean is there anything more gorgeous than fall produce! I’ve tried a variety of squashes, but butternut is still my #1.  Simply slice it with the skin on, add to a baking tray with cooking spray and grill in the oven for 30 minutes at 180°C = PERFECTION:

  • As walking is my primary form of transport here, I’m usually clocking up at least 10-12 kilometres daily.  Rather than music, podcasts have been my source of entertainment and one in particular that I’m loving is How I Built This with Guy Raz.  Each episode involves an interview with well-known entrepreneurs & innovators like John Mackey (Whole Foods Market), Mark Cuban (entrepreneur from Shark Tank), Sadie Lincoln (Barre3) & Richard Branson (Virgin).  I especially enjoyed the interviews with Steve Ells (Chipotle) & Howard Schultz (Starbucks).
  • With the weather cooling down, salads are losing their appeal and comfort food cravings are taking precedence.  I’ve been getting my pasta fix quite often lately in the form of red lentil pasta. The ingredients are simply ‘Organic Red Lentil Flour & Water’ and each serving (=50g uncooked weight) contains a whopping 12g of protein.  Take my word for it when I say that it tastes as good as the real deal…if not better!

  • The new Julia Roberts movie Wonder is not released yet but my bestie got 2 tickets to the pre-screening over the weekend and invited me as her plus one.  Although I kept tearing up, it’s easily one of the best movies I’ve seen all year…plus Julia Roberts is such a babe! I had a major fan girl moment when she & Owen Wilson actually came on stage when the movie finished…and we were seated in the first row!
  • As of Monday when the weather was around 2°C, a new breakfast found its way into my rota: Wholemeal seeded toast topped with almond butter, bananas sautéed in cinnamon & toasted coconut flakes.  Talk about an incredibly cosy start to the day:

And on the note, I probably should go rehearse my upcoming presentation.  Happy Wednesday, friends!

What are you loving this season?

What’s the best movie you’ve seen lately?
