Friday Favorites: 07/12

Happy Friday, friends! You gotta love the Friday feeling- everyone just seems overly happy, even more so with the sun shining. Before the weekend officially starts, here are some of my favorites from the week:

  • Some foods nourish our body whereas others nourish our souls. Ice cream falls in the latter category for me. ย Given my love for peanut butter & cookie dough, there was no way I could pass up trying these 2 new-to-me Ben and Jerry’s flavors I found in my auntโ€™s freezer: Dough-ble Whammy & Peanut Butter Me Up.ย  It’s a good thing the tubs were almost over because double dough-bleย dipping was definitely involved ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • During the handful of meals I’ve eaten at home this past week, I’ve been super lazy with cooking. ย Sticking a piece of fish in the oven is as elaborate as I’ve gotten. ย Otherwise I’ve been buying these salad pots from Marks & Spencerย (usually 2 for ยฃ3) and eating it over a bag of spinach and whatever else I have in the fridge. They are such an easy way to jazz up a meal with minimal effort, especially as they sell loads of different varieties including mixed beans, quinoa, and black rice.

  • In between my house keys, Ray-Bans & wallet, this Tide to Go pen now has a permanent place in my handbag. ย I wore a baby pink dress out for lunch earlier this week and naturally balsamic vinegar found its way onto it- thank goodness my mom was carrying this instant stain remover…crisis averted!

  • Especially considering I used to constantly pop butter mints as a kid, I had to try outย Twinings’ new variety of tea: Butter Mint Sensation. ย With hints of vanilla interTWINed in peppermint tea, its buttermint flavor was spot onโ€ฆtime to stock up on another box!

  1. Ooh what a great week! Those ice creams sound as if they will truly nourish your soul. I am just loving chamomile and vanilla tea at the moment- it’s a lovely combination, very soothing ๐Ÿ˜‰ I discovered peanut butter this week, I haven’t had it often but I’ve fallen hard for its seductive smooth tatse- I weirdly like it with butter (real butter) on toast. I have never had it in gelato, I can bet it would be wonderful- enjoy those flavours Khushboo ๐Ÿ™‚ xo Sophia

    1. Ah I’m so happy to hear you have embraced peanut butter- your life has officially been changed forever :)!

  2. That ice cream looks amazing — as does that tea which I wish I could find here, it would be a staple considering the rain calls for comforting beverages! ๐Ÿ™‚ And that pen was always in my bag in New York, you can’t beat it for taking out tough stains!

Some of my favorites for this week have been Silk Vanilla Soymilk which I have made INSANE Davidoff coffee with ๐Ÿ™‚ so good for early mornings! Also peaches and yogurt parfait, and the fish I had at pali village cafe – Pan seared John Dory with vinagerette – so good! And of course, having my little sister back in town is my most favorite thing of all, completely missed her company!

    1. I love vanilla soy milk- it’s a good thing Starbucks in India serves it :)! Enjoy your time with your sister- I wish my sister and I were in the same country!

  3. Ben & Jerry’s ice cream for the win!!! I love love love all of there flavors because of all the fun bits packed inside every package. Funny story – when we were younger, my sister would push aside all the cookie dough pieces and eat around them just so she could save the “best parts for last.” Well, I would just re-incorporate the pieces into my bowl and eat away. This went back and forth for months before we finally figured out that we had different ice cream eating strategies. ๐Ÿ™‚ LOL!

  4. Cookie dough ice cream is the best! At the bakery where I work we actually started serving vegan ice cream for the summer and one of our toppings is balls of the chocolate chip cookie dough that we use to make our chocolate chip cookies (since they’re vegan, the dough is totally safe to eat raw) – it is SO good!

Mint and vanilla sounds like a really interesting tea combination – I hope I can find it here to give it a try. My favourite tea flavour is licorice, especially the Yogi brand.

    1. Wow that ice cream sounds fab…even more so about the toppings! I hope employees get free helpings ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Buttermint tea?! I definitely need to find some of that! I love mint or fruit flavored green tea. Or any green tea really!
That ice cream looks fantastic too. You can never go wrong with cookie dough or peanut butter!

  6. Swoooooon! That Ice Cream!! Sounds like heaven. As does the tea. I stocked up on some flavors from David’s Tea when I was in Boston and I LOVE the roasted walnut flavor. I am saving every herb of it ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Ooh that tea flavor sounds amazing! There’s a roasted almond flavor available here that I’ve been meaning to try!

  7. So I basically need both of those B & J flavours. Like, immediately. And those to-go pens are so handy! Coming from a person who can rarely get through a meal without spilling or dropping something ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m not the biggest tea-drinker, but I like pumpkin spice and mint.

  8. OMG must try that ice cream flavor immediately. When I was babysitting the other day, the little girl was eating Ben and Jerry’s chocolate therapy, and let me tell you….I would gladly have that ice cream as my therapist. Serious yum!

    1. Ooh I haven’t seen that flavor around but I can only imagine how chocolatey (read: delicious) it must be!

  9. This quinoa, bean and black rice salad looks so good! Unfortunately the Kroger by my home in Georgia does not carry any salads close to this one!
Have you tried Yogi’s Kambucha flavored tea? It is def. one of my favs.
Glad to have stumbled on your blog!

  10. Have you tried Teapigs? I tried it last week and became addicted! They sell it at Whole Foods and I just stocked up. The mint and liquorice flavour is amazing (I hate liquorice so I swear you can’t taste it, it just makes it sweet).

    1. Ohh I’m not a fan of liquorice AT ALL but if you say you can’t taste, I’ll give it a shot ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I am not usually a B&J’s eater, but these flavors sound INCREDIBLE :D! I wonder if they’re available in the States?

That butter mint tea flavor sounds pretty amazing too.

  12. So…does that tea taste like…butter? HAHA. I love mint teas, they are my favorite!! That B&J ice cream sound sooooo delicious and that salad pot is right up my alley!! YUM!

  13. Missing M & S! Seriously, their ready-made salmon, along with couscous salad was a go-to for me. Delicious stuff. And their cornflakes? Delicious!

Enjoy the Ben and Jerry’s…looks amazing.

    1. Oooh I will have to look into their pre-made salmon…I’ve been loving their pre-cooked chicken lately!

  14. My favorite tea are Chinese teas, especially black teas. I like them dark and bitter… I can’t stand sweet and fruity teas. ๐Ÿ™

  15. Wow, those B&J Ice creams look epic! Here in Australia we have only just gotten the basic sort of range at supermarkets so anything ‘special’ will not be on our shelves anytime soon!

Favourite tea would have to be a cinnamon one which you can actually taste the cinnamon, unlike the ones which just smell like it but your drinking hot water.

  16. Waaaaait a secondโ€ฆ.how have I not yet seen Dough-ble Whammy & Peanut Butter Me Up?! Could it be that these flavors are exclusive to the UK? I sure hope not because I can only imagine how mind blowingly amazing they are โ€“ especially when eaten together. Iโ€™ll be on the lookout, but if I canโ€™t find them here, I may have to hop the pond and meet you for an ice cream date before you leave London. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Marks and Spencer was my go-to lunch spot when I was living in England; I loved the plethora of healthy to-go options available, and the fact that they all tasted pretty good was icing on the cake. Itโ€™s funny, very few grocery stores in the US sell good take-away-type meals (with the exception of Whole Foods), yet they seem to be everywhere in the UK.

Oh Twinings, how I adore it! However, since only a few flavors are available here, my go-to brand is Yogi Tea. As for my go-to flavor? Ginger! I drink it every day, and always have packets on hand in my purse. โ˜บ

I hope youโ€™ve had a wonderful weekend, Khushboo! Say hello to London for me! Xoxo <3

    1. Speaking of M & S being the icing on the cake, did you ever try their chocolate cake? Despite it being a supermarket, it might be one of favorite cakes EVER! Hope you’re well, Sara ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. I adore Ben & Jerry’s especially Chubby Hubby, but now I must seek out these flavors you found because they look delicious. Your salad looks great too, and I really like the idea of pouring pre-made salad over greens, especially when you have such great salad options.
