I probably already sound like a broken record so I may as well say it once again: 2011 IS FLYING! Am I the only one wondering where the heck September went, let alone this whole year?? As fast as the months are finishing, I can’t say I’m not excited about October start. In fact, I cannot wait as there’s so much to look forward to:
1) My cousin is hosting an 80’s-themed party this weekend to celebrate her birthday. Just for the record, nobody puts Baby in the corner 😉
2) My best friend and her family who I visited in Singapore earlier this year are coming to Mumbai
3) Weekend trip to Goa with 7 other friends: I can’t even remember the last time my feet dug into sand.
4) The release of the movie The Help in Mumbai. Ever since I read (and loved) the book, I have been itching to watch it.
5) A possible new addition to my family: My cousin and his lovely wife are expecting their baby in November but I’m banking on the munchkin poppin’ out earlier. Especially considering the amount of love I have for the couple, I CANNOT WAIT!
6) Diwali a.k.a. the Indian Festival of Lights. As this is our New Years equivalent, Diwali tends to mean spending time with friends/family, falling into a sugar coma, eating 7 vegetables (not sure the meaning behind this), lighting up fireworks, playing “teen patti” (a.k.a flush) and basically having a good time.
What are you looking forward to this October?
I’m looking forward to Asheville realizing it’s fall, overdosing on pumpkin, seeing my mom and fall break from school.
I am looking forward to so many things! Seeing my grandparents, Halloween, candy corn!, fall colors, apple picking, corn mazes, cooler weather, pumpkin recipes, and seeing my mom 🙂
Don’t know why but I am really looking forward to the festival season this year. You have quite the fun planned in the month of October.
Do you celebrate Navratri, as in go out to play garba??
I don’t! However I have to keep vegetarian at home for the 8 days because my grandmother follows it!
Fun list! And you’re right, 2011 just flew by! I’m looking forward to finding out where I’m moving next. I have one more rotation to go in my program for work, so I’m hoping it’s somewhere fun. 🙂
I’m sure it will be! Any job which provides travel opportunities sounds like a keeper to me!
O I so know what you mean, fastest year going by ever I swear. Diwali always sounds like such a gorgeous festival :). O thats so exciting about the new family member, and your holiday and your friend’s visit!! Just soo much! October, not sure really, definitely halloween haha I really need to make some exciting plans though ;P
Got your Halloween outfit sorted? ;)!
I’m looking forward to getting back to my final year of university after a year of being away – and the Vegan MoFo of course!
Ps. Great bog! I will be reading more in the future 🙂
Ooh whats the Vegan MoFo? Thanks so much for your comment, glad you’ll be ‘stopping by’ in future ;)!
I’m with you…I cannot believe 2011 is already almost over!!! Looks like you have a lot to look forward to 🙂
I totally need to get with the program and read/watch The Help!
Yes you majorly do- cannot recommend it enough!
I start my new job in Octoberrrr!!!!! 🙂 Ahhh and I wish I was going to Goa; I can use a little sunshine, the rainy season here is about to start! And a lot of my friends celebrate Diwali, so I’m excited for that too 🙂 a perfect excuse to wear my Indian clothes
Oh woah CONGRATS about the new job- that’s definitely something to be excited about! What kinda role is it?? I love how Indian-ised you are- woo for that semester abroad :-)!
Wow, congrats to your cousin! That’s exciting. I’m looking forward to a trip to Washington, D.C. this October and a half marathon next weekend!
Wow your 1/2 marathon is so soon! Are you tapering now?
