Random musings…

Hey guys!  How’s your week/month going?  February is already shaping up quite nicely and I know that it’s only going to get better.  I just realised that it has been almost 3 years since I started blogging…3 freakin’ years!  Considering I initially wondered whether I’d have enough to post about, it turns out I’m chattier than I thought…not a bad thing, right 🙂 ?

While blogging has been a great outlet to share my experiences and connect with like-minded people, it’s also kinda therapeutic…especially on those days where  I want to share a bunch of random thoughts.  Today is one of those days…

  • There seems to be a shortage of Natural Skippy Peanut Butter in Mumbai, but I miraculously managed to get my hands on a jar…the last one in the store for that matter.  I usually prefer “Smooth” but only “Super Chunk” was available.  Everything happens for a reason because let’s just say that it has taken PB & J’s to a whole new level…and I’m not sure I ever want to go back to “Smooth”.

  • I’m starting to think that I need to cut down on my Starbucks trips.  I walked in the other day and before I had a chance to call out my order, the barista asked me if I wanted a soy cappuccino…yessir!  Should I be flattered or just embarrassed?

  • Sorry to sound like a Negative Nancy but you know what one of biggest pet peeves at the gym is?  Conflicting advice from trainers.  Depending on which trainer is helping me out, my form is either spot on or needs to be altered tremendously.  Two words come to mind: unsolicited advice!
Amen

  • Between Facebook, Instagram & Twitter, it’s a given that social media is a time-sucker.  I think it’s safe to say that Words With Friends eats up a majority of my time though.  In my defence, at least it’s educational.  I’m constantly learning new words…and also being reminded that some words don’t actually exist.

  • I know Beyonce’s performance at the Super Bowl on Sunday has been raved about a billion times already but I’m just going to say it once more: WOW!  I read rumors that she lip-synched The Star-Spangled Banner at Obama’s inauguration.  Whether or not that’s true (BS in my opinion), one thing’s for sure: Beyonce can DANCE…caps lock is absolutely necessary!  Bringing on stage Kelly & Michelle definitely transcended me back to the middle school days of Destiny’s Child.

Tell me something random on your mind…let it out :)!

And for kicks…

What is/was your favorite Destiny’s Child song?  Mine are Bug-A-Boo & Say My Name…and Jumpin’ Jumpin’…gah I can’t choose!

  1. Bug-a-boo is hoooot!
I really, really, really love Cater 2 U – that BET performance of that song..and wow.
I love Soldier too – that video – yes please. I could go on and on and on about Bey/DC. haha!

3 years blogging is a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time! that’s amazing 😀

  2. Congrats on your three year blogging anniversary! I looove Destiny’s Child – the teenage me is very excited that they are making music again 😀

None of the trainers at my gym have ever given me advice. I think it is because they’re scared of me, haha!

  3. Almost 3 years – congrats!

I’m now disappointed that we don’t have Super Chunk Skippy Natural around here – I’ve recently discovered how much I love chunky peanut butter, and considering my love of Skippy Natural’s Smooth I would be more than enthusiastic about it!

Best Destiny’s Child? Probably Bootylicious. Who doesn’t love that song?

  4. My favorite was say my name. We’d always dress up and make a stage and pretend we were Destiny’s Child. You know I’ve never been a coffee drinker, but I think I’m going to give it a try again. Maybe it just hasn’t been made the way I like yet, but I’m headed to the breakroom now to see if I can make a yummy concoction.

    1. Oh pleeease give coffee another go..it’s too delicious to go without! I’d recommend adding soy milk as it adds a yum creaminess to it!

  5. I couldn’t agree more about the half time show!! I loved it!!
My fave destinys child song was “say my name” Totally my jam in junior high;)

    Happy 3 years doll~!
    xoxo

  6. Three years?! Squee! Well, I for one am very glad that you decided to take up blogging – how else would I have ‘met’ you otherwise?! Big hugs, Khushboo!

I had to laugh big time at your Starbucks comment – the same exact thing happens to me. Sometimes I think that I should mess with them and order something else for once, but I just can’t give up my capps – too good! And oh man… I kind of squeaked out loud when DC came out during the show – way too many good memories from those days. Say My Name and Jumpin’ Jumpin’ were favorites for sure!

    1. Thanks so much, Amanda :)! And I’m with you about keeping it simple & sticking with cappuccinos…I know they say “Variety is the spice of life” but I’m more a fan of the “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” motto ;)!

  7. I used to absolutely despise the texture of crunchy peanut butter, but now I LOVE it. It is crazy how our taste buds and preferences can change! I try to remember this, and try out foods that I think that I “don’t like” when given the opportunity.

  8. Beyonce admitted to lip syncing..HOWEVER I heard she said something along the lines of “yes I did, and I am going to do it again at the Superbowl.” I don’t think there is anything wrong with that!! Singing and dancing is HARD! Plus she was honest about it..so good for her!! I was never a Destinys Child fan haha. Oops.

Ohh PB yumness!! I prefer smooth, but will never turn down chunky if it’s all there is.

    1. WOW I love her even more for admitting it…more power to Beyonce! And you were never a Destiny’s Child fan?? Can we still be friends ;)!

  9. Congrats on your 3 year blog anniversary! I still haven’t watched Beyonce’s performance yet although I keep on hearing about it.. but I’m sure it’s amazing!

I really hate unsolicited advice too. I also don’t like it when trainers ask/message me and want to know if I want advice.. you can’t really say no! I usually don’t mind that unless their advice conflicts with something I learned with a trainer I know and trust.

    1. That’s nice that they ask before handing over advice…but you’re right, there really isn’t a polite way to say no! I just take it with a pinch of salt now! 🙂

  10. I can’t believe it’s Feb already!! ahh!!
And wow! I didn’t realize you’ve blogging for 3 years now and you’re still going strong ;). I actually prefer crunchy pb cuz I’m a sucker for texture. I’m glad you’re on your way of being converted hehe. I was quite amazed by Beyonce’s performance as well. The whole time I thought, boy her cardio must be incredible! How is she not out of breath? I miss Destiny’s child..I like all their songs..esp Survivor, Independent Women, Say My Name

    1. Hahah so true about Beyonce’s cardio…even talking while running is killer, so I can’t even imagine what singing would be like considering the notes she hits!

  11. so funny you mentioned Beyonce, that is gonna be one of my friday’s favorites. Great minds think alike. SHE LOOKED SO HOT! random… we are going to have a huge storm in the NYC region.. hopefully it’s not too bad.
Favorite song by Destiny’s… All the women who independent … throw your hands up in the air.
love that song, it still gets me, makes me wanna work hard, earn my money, and NEVER rely on a man.

  12. YESSSS loved the Destiny’s Child show! It’s the only reason I even tuned into the superbowl among many other females out there I am sure 😉 perhaps I am stereotyping a bit but ahhh well haha
Don’t cut down on Starbucks intake if you don’t want to… there is a local coffee shop near me I go to far more often than I should and yep, they know me and my order by now. I’m still going forever and ever 😀

  13. Congrats on three years of blogging, girl!! I have no idea how it took us so long to find each other, but I’m sure glad we did. Your blog has quickly become one of my favorites–and I truly mean that. <3

I've re-watched the Beyonce/Destiny's Child halftime performance on YouTube at least five times since last Sunday, and I'm pretty sure that count would be much higher if I'd had more regular access to a computer this week. 😉 LOVED it! My favorite Destiny's Child songs are, in no particular order: Survivor, Say My Name, and Bootylicious (I shook my groove thang like crazy to that song during junior high school dances!) 😉

It's funny you brought up the chunky vs. smooth peanut butter debate, because I randomly bought a jar of chunky last week, and can't get enough of it. I've been a smooth girl for years! xoxo <3

    1. The feeling is mutual, Sara- always look forward to your posts :)! And you continue to shake what your momma gave ya- word on the street is that DC are releasing a new album!!
