I woke up this morning with the ultimate runners’ high! Although 10 kilometers is a distance I’ve run multiple times in the past, yesterday was the first time I’ve ever run for charity. Overall it went really well and it was one of those runs where nothing could have killed my buzz.
It didn’t matter that…
- …I drank more than planned the night before
- …I took a couple of walking breaks
- …This was the longest I’ve run since December…and my legs definitely reminded me of that this morning
- …I listened to Raise Your Glass at least 6 times during
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChEE0_OPbkw]
- …I committed a fashion faux pas as I ran: navy on top & black on the bottom
- …It wasn’t my fastest 10K
- …I constantly thought about the iced coffee I was going to inhale right after
- …Treadmill boredom crept in, and hence this post came to be
- … The eye makeup from the night before had completely smudged all over my face by the end of it
- …The treadmills at my gym are programmed to stop after 32 minutes
What matters is that:
- I finished…along with 54 other runners and one dog in 9 different cities
- We raised over $7,000 for a great cause
- I thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience, and can’t wait to do it all over again
What was source of your last natural high?
wow congrats and way to hang in there. I dream of iced coffee when I run too!
Haha glad I’m not the only one!
you find the best stuff – I LOVE that first pic! Congrats on pushing through. I know that is brutal.
Haha looks like all that time wasted on Pinterest isn’t wasted after all ;)!
Awesome!!! Don’t you just love that feeling of pushin through and coming out victorious from a super hard workout?? You rock! 😀
Thanks, girl! The harder it feels during, the more amazing it feels afterwards!
WOW, congratulations Khushboo! $7000 is amazing! What a high, indeed! My last natural high had nothing to do with giving back, it was when Dos Caminos (restaurant) invited me to hang with their chef and learn about avocadoes. 🙂 Nothing in comparison to your accomplishment.
If a professional chef gave me a lesson on avocadoes, I know I would be pretty psyched too :)!
Awesome run!! Your time is great!! My last natural runners high was from last months 5 mile race. I was in love. You rockk!
I remember reading your recap on that race- you nailed it :)!
Congrats! To run that far, AND on a boring treadmill? Great accomplishment. And mmm, iced coffee, great motivation 😉
I’m glad you share my sentiments about treadmills- how I used to run longer on that damn machine back in the day is beyond me!
You used to run even further on a treadmill?? Wow, I have got to admire your dedication!
Haha thanks…I believe my record is 97 minutes….yes I was loco!! 🙂
I agree – you ran for a cause and thats all that matters 🙂
32 minutes – that is such a random time for a treadmill! haha
CONGRATULATIONS KT. You’re such a star and so motivated. I bet the iced coffee tasted super sweet after the run.
Hmmmm my last natural high? Had to be after a particularly intense Bikram Yoga class.
Thanks, G! Nothing like a good sweat session to make you feel on top of the world! 🙂
Haha it’s 30 minutes, and then they give us 2 minutes grace period..i.e. cool down!
Great job on pushing through the run! I love that you stayed motivated with the ice coffee haha, I dream of items like that too, or a nice smoothie if it’s hot out! That feeling of getting through it and then lingering on your accomplishments after is just the best 🙂
Oh last week I made a smoothie with part iced coffee as my liquid…yep I went there and it tasted amazing ;)!
So funny…I recently wore navy on top and black on the bottom. And I was okay with it!! LOL
Hahah well if you are, I guess I am too…it actually looked A-OK :)!
respects. of the deepest and the most heartfelt kind.
Thanks Ritika!
That sounds like the best way to run it to me – good job girl!
Thank youu!
I think this sounds great! not bad at all – especially considering you hadn’t run in a while….I’d kill for that time 😉 and FYI – navy and black are a rule of the past! wear them all you want 😀 – there are no rules in fashion, just be confident in your choices
Thanks Ali and I couldn’t agree more…fashion is about taking chances :)!
Congratulations. That’s awesome!!! And it’s always so meaningful to run for a good cause. Love the iced coffee dreaming!!
Thanks Corrie Anne…the first sip of iced coffee after a run is always the most satisfying!
Yay!!!! Well done for getting through it. And hey, if a song works, then keep replaying it. Some songs just have that magic factor for getting you through a tough run.
So true..ane the funny thing is that there are some songs which I LOVE to run to yet would never listen to otherwise!
Nice job getting through!
Smudged make up is a problem for all athlete women I think 😉
It’s nice to know that you are running for a purpose.. I wish I could feel that way everytime I run! 😀
When I was getting back in shape, I felt that I could run forever, and I was really pumped up by it! I realized that I was having runner’s high! It’s a great feeling!!
Those kinda runs make you remember why you run to begin with right! Running for a cause really does wonders for motivation!
Congrats!!!! I hate when you’re doing cardio at a new gym and all of a sudden the treadmill/elliptical/whatever stops and you’re completely not expecting it… so awkward looking for everyone around you!
I’ve been working out at this gym for the past 2 years and this silly limit still irks me every time!
Congrats on the 10k!!! That iced coffee would have been so good after 😀
Oh yeah – sweaty makeup and a smudged face is the sign of a good workout 😀
True story- the uglier you get, the harder the workout…or something like that :)!
