You know it’s the holidays when…

Even though Christmas is only 3 days away, my family and I don’t celebrate the holiday per say as we are Hindu.  However I did suggest my immediate family and I exchange presents just for the novelty factor.  Nonetheless my email went ignored and confirmed I am related to  a bunch of Grinches ;)! That all being said, the holiday feeling is still in full swing, friends & family keep flying into town, and I am loving every second of it.

Other than the occasional Christmas carol that plays on the radio, you know it’s the holidays when…

1) You keep getting emails from companies like Amazon with the subject line “It’s not too late”

2) Suddenly tea & cookies become an acceptable snack

3) You inevitably dress up a bit more to work in case a plan comes up afterwards

4) You eat out of FUNger rather than hunger…i.e you eat merely for the fun of it

5) “What’s your plan for New Years” has become a conversation starter.

6) Friends/family members on your Blackberry Messenger & Facebook keep updating their statuses with various locations

7) The streets are more lit up than normal

8 ) Your priorities seem to change and routine is thrown out of whack

9) Your gym is near empty at rush hour…not that I’m complaining 😉

and finally…

10) You go to sleep in a good mood and wake up in a good mood

Happy Holidays to you and your family- hope the next week or so are both special and most enjoyable!

Finish the sentence: “You know it’s the holidays when_______________”

  1. Funger may just be the best new word of 2011…love it. And yes, I am so guilty! Luckily though I have been working so much that food seems to be an after thought these days.

Hope you are having a great one my friend! Happy Thursday!

  2. I just love the word Funger 🙂 My brother and I started the christmas gift exchanging seven years back and really its so much fun just to be in the spirit!

  3. Hahahah “funger”. So true. I love this list! Sorry that your family wasn’t into the present idea. I bet you could find some friends who would be interested in doing a gift exchange 🙂 “secret snowflake”, perhaps? i did that one time with friends of all different religions. I suppose snowflake is more PC than Santa, hahah

  4. You know it’s the holidays when there’s traffic at all hours of the day, when you have to park all the way in the back of the parking lot at pretty much any store, and when you make [food and exercise] decisions based on the fact that the new year is right around the corner! Loved this post!

Love this post 🙂 Funger is definitely going to be a permanent word in my vocabulary! You know when it’s the holiday when your party clothes come out; you have to push yourself to work, and always craving some extra sleep! Happy Holidays KT!

  6. you know it’s the holidays when … there are sale signs everywhere – 50% off, 40% off… and rather than buying stuff for others, I keep going crazy with my own purchases!
definitely agree on the gym one, i’ve totally been slacking cuz my schedule is out of wack, i end up meeting someone, or shopping, or there is a delay. i’ll do anything to avoid going to the gym.

  7. Those Amazon folks aren’t kidding around. I ordered something on Thursday afternoon, and received it in the mail the Friday afternoon with free shipping! Color me impressed!

  8. When I start eating homemade cookies and cakes from neighbors and friends without guilt! lol The break room at my work is full of candies and baked goods, it’s too hard not to sneak some to my desk!!
