Knowledge is a remarkable thing.  No matter how much you currently know, there’s always more to learn.  Whether you’re actively seeking it or not, you still pick up random tidbits along the way.  My past week was hardly enthralling yet I feel like I’ve acquired so much random, yet useful, information. For example:
1) Unlike cooking, there’s no “a little bit of this & a little bit of that” in baking: precise measurements only!
2) New-born babies are the only ones that can make vomiting look cute…and I’m so ready to become an aunt
3) Social media to marketing is like China to the business world: it’s where things are happening
4) Listen to your mother when she nags advises you not to eat or drink near your laptop
5) Despite my love for carbs, black coffee is the best pre-run fuel and iced coffee is the most refreshing post-run fuel
6) Crying is an exhausting exercise and puts a whole different kinda stress on your body
7) Coffee Bean Tea Leaf have a ‘no game policy’…Monopoly Deal included 😯
8 ) The term corduroy stems from ‘corde du roi’ which is French for ‘cloth of the king’…and is apparently making a comeback this fall

9)Â Sesame oil is probably the most flavorful oil around: Welcome home, stir fries!
And finally…
11) Natural adversities like hurricanes & monsoon rainstorms are all it takes to remind us to acknowledge the things we tend to take for granted such as shelter
What’s one thing you learnt this past week?
I’ve too been thinking a lot about the natural disasters that have been occurring all over the world lately. The biggest lesson I’ve learned from them is to live each day to the fullest – today really is a gift.
I agree…the present really is a present 🙂
Hmmm, I learned ice baths are not that bad, that days off from school AND work are amazing and sometimes you have to rely on yourself alone for happiness.
Agreed on all counts especially lesson 2….mental health days are crucial!
This was super entertaining. Especially since I’ve found out that you sometimes learn life’s biggest lessons out of college…for free.
And all the other lessons are learned in college…and you pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for.
Man if only someone told me this before i forked out a boat load of £££££
This was super funny and I agree on everything :)) Especially that you never should eat or drink near the laptop. A huge mug of coffee ended in my keyboard and all over my screen the other day and it wasn´t cute 🙂
Eeks did it survive? My sister spilled hot choc over hers and that was the end of that!
Well, the screen is K.O., but the keyboard is still functioning..not that it matters without the screen 🙂 Fortunatelly I have my old laptop here, so I can use it.
amen to the babies vomiting… in my work i look after people with special needs and if anyone vomits etc ( i’ll leave the etc to your imagination) i have to CHECK. NOT cute!!!
and with you on the black coffee!!! i’m not sure i learnt anything new ( how sad)..i’m kinda sick so just been feeling sorry for myself!
Hope you’re feeling better! Your work sounds super noble!
Fun!! I love sesame oil!!
So familiar with the laptop drinking and the crying, great post! It’s weird how crying makes you soooo tired. I have learnt not to chuck papers away, without checking that they are definitely rubbish first – oops!!!
Yep same goes for ripping up papers ;)!
I love this! So insightful. I went to a wedding this weekend…and as refreshing it was to see the happy couple so in love, I also was reminded that kind of fresh love isn’t always there…and that it takes a lot of work to make it last. It’s not a depressing thing at all, but a good reminder for sure!
I like this view- love is definitely something both sides have to work at!
Very cute post! I also learned your #11 this week. There are a ton of wildfires raging through Austin right now and people’s homes are burning to the ground. It’s incredibly scary and I’m very lucky to be unaffected by them.
Sounds very scary- hope you are ok!
I really think we should venture into another coffee shop for round two of monopoly 🙂
