One place where I can imagine it being depressing to shop is Japan. I’ve never been but from what I’ve heard, the sizes are ridiculously small to keep in line with the small frame of Japanese women. So while you may be rocking at size 8 in the UK, you may have to make room in your closet for a size 12/14 in Japan. It’s no surprise how Japanese women generally stay so slim- with a staple diet of sushi and green tea, how can you go wrong? They’ve actually hit the nail on the head: rolls such as spicy tuna with avocado or salmon makis contain an excellent balance of carbs, protein, and essential fatty acids (EFAs)
If sushi was as easily available, I probably would eat it 24/7. I heart sushi, literally! I guess it’s just the delicious combination of ingredients that leaves you feeling so healthy after eating it. You just know you’re truly nourishing your body (of course this doesn’t include the rolls containing mayo, cream cheese, tempura). It’s even more satisfying when it’s brown rice sushi. Coming in after oats and sweet potato, brown rice is definitely my next favourite carb (that’s the Indian in me coming out! ;)).
For the last week, sushi has been on my mind. I can’t even remember the last time I devoured a piece. As I lack both equipment (rolling mat) and skill, I settled for the next best thing: a sushi salad bowl. It’s basically a deconstructed sushi roll that tastes as delicious. I had it for lunch today and it definitely sorted my craving out. The only thing which would have taken it to the next level was eating it with chopsticks. I would have at home but imagine how dorky I’d look whipping out a pair at the office. Check out the recipe section to find out more…
