Currently (September 2015)

Hi guys!  Hope you had a super weekend.  I just got back from an amazing weekend trip to Pondicherry with a few friends.  I’ve been wanting to travel more around India so here’s one more city to tick off :).

As we’re entering into the last week of September, I wanted to put up a Currently Survey post before the month slips away completely:

Current Book: I am almost done with Girl on The Train and can’t say enough good things- it’s been totally gripping and has gotten me back into reading!

Current Music:  So obessed with Vijay & Sofia Zlatko’s remix of I Got You Baby:

Current Drink: H20 – never gets old!

Current Excitement: Empire Season 2  starts on Wednesday- woo freakin’ hoo!

Current TV Show: I still can’t get over the Mistresses Season 3 finale.  Tell me I’m not the only one who gets way too emotionally invested in TV show characters.

Current Guilty Pleasure: I’ve become that person who watches TV on her iPhone while walking on the treadmill, but hey the time FLIES.  Lately I have been streaming stuff on Youtube, but for the sake of my phone bill, I think I’m going to start uploading some TV shows on my iPad beforehand.  Any suggestions?

Current Obsession: The iPhone in-built Health app.  The step tracker has gotten me obsessed with fitting in at least 10,000 steps daily.  I highly recommend this to anyone who needs some motivation to be more active in day-to-day life.

Current Bane of My Existence: Bad and/or slow service at a restaurant totally kills the experience, no matter how delicious the food might be.

Current Food: I can’t get enough of prawns lately!  Shawarma-, peri peri-, or tandoori-style, I’m eating it all!

Current Indulgence: Hiring a personal trainer to lift weights with at the gym over the next month.  As fitness & being in shape is important to me, it’s worth the investment…even if it means cutting back on expenses elsewhere.

Current Blessing: Looking back on 2015, I’ve been blessed with plenty of travel & I’m truly grateful for each trip.

Current Instagram Fave: @Northwitch69.  Whoever is in charge of this accounts uploads some really LOL-worthy content.  Case in point:

Current Need: I’m currently working at Starbucks & to be honest, right now I need someone to watch my laptop while I go pee.

Current Mood: Positively overwhelmed with work πŸ™‚

Current Triumph: Cleaning out my closet and actually giving away 3 bags worth of clothes.  As an A-class hoarder, this totally counts as a huge triumph.

Current Link: Have you guys seen Nicole Arbour’s video Dear Fat People which went viral?  I recently shared my reply on Huffington Post & would love to hear your thoughts/feedback on the issue of fat shaming: Dear Nicole Arbour, Here’s The Truth About Fat Shaming. As a former ‘fat’ person, I can tell you that shaming doesn’t inspire anyone to make changes. Making overweight or obese people feel bad about their bodies doesn’t do anything to motivate them to lose weight.

What’s your current…

  1. I cannot believe it’s almost the end of September – this year seems to be flying by quicker than last year did! And this season of Mistresses is over already??? I am so so behind – I should play catch up when I am on the treadmill too! And, I NEED to get back to reading too, my daughter game me “How to be single” the beginning of this month and I have only read through the first chapter so far.

  2. Woohoo for personal trainers! I hired one when I was first starting to get back into weights, and it definitely made a huge difference not only in the progress I saw, but in how motivated I was to work out. Good luck on your fitness goals, lady! And awesome article over on Huff Post. I saw Nicole’s video, and just wow. I hate how she’s trying to pass it off as light-hearted comedy… Shaming groups of people is never funny.

  3. Love these currently posts…. I loved having a personal trainer at one point. THe technique they show you is wonderful! And yeah, I was totally shocked by the Mistresses Season Finale!!!

  4. Haha the total bane of my life – that choice between going to the toilet and having to pack everything up or holding it in and, lets face it, being in pain! Sometimes working alone sucks!
Oooh those tandoori prawns look incredible! I love prawns with that rich marinated flavour… I should do it more often!
Also awesome that you are getting a trainer in order to lift weights, so many people do this on their own and it can be so dangerous! Well worth the investment! πŸ™‚

  5. Hi Khushboo! That’s awesome you’re planning to work with a trainer! Outside of lifting weights, hopefully your trainer makes sure you have no imbalances and gives you a good plan moving forward. It’s so beneficial to have an extra set of eyes on our fitness routine and movement. Right now I’m reading What Alice Forgot — so far so good! πŸ™‚

  6. I love funny IG accounts. Even more than the food porn ones. Ha!

So lucky you have a beautiful country to explore. Not that the US isn’t great, but I love seeing other parts of the world. The structures in India all seem so gorgeous.

    1. Ah I feel the same about the US- it must be so amazing to be able to have so many different states to road trip to and check out! Grass is always greener on the other side eh ;)!

  7. I’ve been watching TV on my phone on the treadmill too! Honestly, it’s the only way I can stay on there for more than 10 minutes without getting too bored! I haven’t figured out how to upload things to my phone or ipad though so I bank on free wifi haha

    1. Ah you’re lucky free wifi is an option at your gym- I dread to see what my phone bill is going to be at the end of the moonth ;)!
