Currently (May 2015)

Hey guys!  It seems to have become tradition that I post a Currently Survey right before travelling.  I’m pre-scheduling this post so I’ll actually be on board and a few hours away from London when this post goes live.  To say I’m excited would be an understatement.  Between all the packing and making my way through my evergrowing “To-Do list”, I wanted to keep it light-hearted and share some of my current favorites:

Current Book: After reading & loving Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies, I downloaded another one of her books: The Husband’s Secret, which I equally devoured.  It’s so cleverly-written and full of suspense- definitely a page-turner.

Current Music:  Throwback to one of my favorite Michael Jackson’s tracks that I can’t stop listening to since last week: Rock With You ♪ ♫ ♬And we’re gonna ride the boogie ♪ ♫ ♬

Current TV Show: Empire…more like obsessed!  I finished all 12 episodes in 2 days so use that as some kind of indicator that you need to start watching it if you haven’t already.

Current Drink: Homemade iced soy lattes- the weather has gotten way too hot in Bombay to drink coffee any other way.

Current Food: That being said, I’ve been eating a lot of soup lately like this homemade Black-Eyed Bean & Mixed Veggie soup every night this past week…with the air conditioning blasting obviously!

Black-Eyed Bean & Mixed Veggie Soup

Current Excitement: Aside from London, I’m mega excited for a girls’ trip to Budapest over the upcoming long weekend.  It’s a new city for me so if anyone has any recommendations, please share.

Current Guilty Pleasure: I don’t feel guilty but a recent little pleasure of mine is pairing Digestive biscuits with my evening cup of chai/coffee.  My sister & I started this habit while I was in China and it stuck.  While it’s certainly not as nutritious a snack as a piece of fruit or nuts, it sure hits the spot…and the rest of my diet is balanced enough to handle a bit of refined sugar.

Digestives dipped in chai

Current Obsession: The TV channel Romedy which is basically the TV gods gift to all women.  It predominantly shows romantic comedy films and in this past week alone, I’ve watched New Year’s Eve, One Fine Day, The Blind Side & Notting Hill.

Current Bane of My Existence: Hotel exchange rates.  The last hotel I stayed in outwardly told me they were ripping me off.  The conversation went a bit like this:

Me: Hi, can I change $500 into dhirams please?

Hotel: Sure but please note that we offer a lower rate than you would get outside.

Me: Er okay, actually I’ll just change $100 for now.

Current Indulgence: New gym-wear from Nike (which, by the way, has gotten so pricey), although I think it’s worth the investment as I probably wear gym clothes more than my regular clothes.  Along with that, there’s nothing like new gym swag to motivate you to work out ;).

Current Instagram Fave: Pardon my French but I love the posts that @phuckyoquote puts up including this:

Phuckyoquote- You don't need a reason quote

Current Blessing:  Being able to call 2 places (London & Mumbai) home :).

Current Need: Your advice on whether I should buy a Jawbone (if you own one)Based on the feedback I received on Facebook, the general consensus is a big, fat NO- can anyone convince me otherwise?

Current Mood:  Summer state of mind aka the best kind of mood!

Current Triumph: My Words with Friends addiction has only increased and clearly it’s paying off – 137 points baby!

Words With Friends - 137 points

Current Link: While I’m all for the Dadbod, I absolutely loved this lady’s rebuttal: I Refuse to Celebrate ‘Dad Bod’, Until We Appreciate the ‘Mum Bod’ Too.

What’s your current…

…need?

…food?

…excitement?

triumph?

  1. I totally understand your Digestive’s luv! But – have you tried the Chocolate Digestive’s yet? They come in dark and milk chocolate and Khushboo, they are responsible for changing my luv for Digestives into an addiction! 🙂
Speaking of chocolate – that’s my current (past and present ) food obsession and have you heard Walk The Moon’s “shut up and dance”? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JCLY0Rlx6Q – I wanna not like it so much …but just cannot…!!!
Safe travels and have a wonderful time!

    1. Ah of course I’ve tried the chocolate Digestives- they are divine, especially dipped in tea! Chocolate will always be obsession too :)!

  2. I have the UP Jawbone and I love it. Although mine is old school ( I still have to manually sync it). It motivates me to walk more and keeps an eye on my sleep (which in turn let’s me know how S is sleeping as well). For someone who is so self motivated though, what are your reasons for wanting one?

    1. Aside from my planned workout for the day, the rest of my day is so sedentary in Mumbai- hopefully this would motivate to move more!

  3. So many great trips coming up!! London is always amazing but I would LOVE to go to Budapest! I have never been to Hungary and it’s definitely on my bucket list.

Digestive biscuits are so delicious! have you ever tried the ones covered with dark chocolate? They are my favorite 🙂

My current need is… a new LIVER! LOL after 4 days in Madrid drinking sangria and eating chorizo I am ready to start drinking lots of water and eating things that will be gentler on my digestive system.

My current food is Iberico jam! I ate this ham every single day in Spain and I already miss it even though I have only been back for a day! But I missed oatmeal so I am glad to be reunited with my favorite breakfast.

My current excitement is that I am leaving for Japan on Saturday!! I am going to be spending 2 weeks there (Tokyo, Kyoto and Okinawa) and I seriously have never been more excited for a vacation in my life.

My current triumph is finally having the guts to get a voucher for 10 crossfit classes. I have wanted to try crossfit for so long but was too intimidated. It’s going to happen after Japan 😉

    1. Love this comment! Your weekend in Madrid sounds amazing- and go you for drinking all that Sangria (when in Spain right)! I am SO jealous you’re off to Japan- that’s on my bucket list…please blog about it so I can travel vicariously through you :)!

  4. Yay you’re coming (or may have arrived by now??) to London!! You’re the second person in two days to mention Empire to me, so I’m thinking I need to check it out. I think I must be the only person alive to not like The Husband’s Secret! See you soon 😀

  5. Totally with you on The Husband’s Secret! It’s actually the first book by Moriarity that I read, and I definitely fell in love with her writing style. And digestive biscuits used to be one of my favourites back in the day! We’d always get the ones with a layer of chocolate on top, and I loved how they tasted dipped in milk or coffee. Which reminds me… I haven’t had any in forever. Time to change that!

    1. I’m here for 2 months- such a shame that our trips didn’t coincide last year :)! I feel you on the smoked salmon, although lately I can’t get enough of grilled salmon fillets!

  6. I know I said it before, but all my coworkers and me had the Jawbone and each one died only after a few months. NOT recommended.

Anyway, London, yay!! Also, I have never been to Budapest or maybe I was but only in and out when I was a FLight Attendant. I hear it’s a great city!

Current need is more days off, I don’t want this trip to end!

  7. Loved both of those books, especially Big Little Lies! And I’m really loving crunchy PB right now. We usually buy creamy, but after accidentally picking up the crunchy kind the other day, I’m hooked!

Have an amazing trip!! Can’t wait to read about it!

    1. Same here- I usually get smooth but I’m loving the crunchy kind lately..adds a bit more substance to the meal :)!
