Currently (December 2014)

Hey guys! Long time, no speak blog!  I have a whole list of topics I want to cover about but first, let’s play catch up…and what better way that with a Currently survey i.e. the last one of 2014 (!!):

Current Book: I haven’t read a book in over a month- yikes!  After hearing so many wonderful things  about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I borrowed a copy off my cousin and will be starting that any day now…perhaps tonight!

Current Guilty Pleasure:  Working in tracksuit bottoms when I’m at home…but then again, isn’t that one of the perks of working from home?  In my defence, I do change into real clothes when I’m meeting clients ;).

Current Music: Going back to my Nigerian roots with Chop My Money by P-Square featuring Akon.  Aside from the feel-good beat, the lyrics crack me up every time: ♫I don’t mind if you chop my money, I don’t care, because I de get plenty

Current Instagram Fave: Pardon my French but have you guys come across @FUCKJERRY on Instagram??  This account is h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u.s!  Case in point:

FuckJerry

Current TV Show: I know many people anxiously wait each week for a new episode of a TV show to come out but I’m the opposite.  I wait for at least 5 or 6 to come out and then binge watch them in one shot.  I’m now all caught up with Modern Family & The Big Bang Theory.

Current Drink: Given last weekend was a boozy fest, I’ll share my current tipple- vodka/water/lime juice.  Dehydration meets hydration–> works perfectly!

Current Obsession: And for a more PG beverage, here’s my current obession: soy cappuccinos at Starbucks, extra hot, extra foam with a generous sprinkle of cinnamon.  I’ve been drinking these almost daily over the past few weeks & I need to stop.  Those damn red cups only make it all the more enticing!

Current Food: Runny eggs…over toast, over squash, over sweet potato, over errthang!

Runny Eggs on Toast

Current Need: A milk frother…to replace my need for a daily Starbucks fix.

Current Bane of My Existence:  Amazon India.  Without sounding like a total Negative Nancy, I don’t think I’ve experienced such terrible customer experience ever, especially given how superb Amazon UK is.  Long story short, I returned a product and was told I’d receive my refund within 3-5 working days.  After plenty of emails, phone calls & annoyed tweets, I finally received a refund…6 weeks later!

Current Indulgence:  Sunday mornings: the one morning of the week where I wake up naturally i.e. not to an alarm clock or to natural light (I shut the curtains on Saturday night before going to bed).  The rest of the morning is usually spent with breakfast in bed, watching mindless TV & just vegging out completely…it’s glorious!

Current Blessing: So much!  Even when things seem tough, life is still pretty damn good…ya know?

Gayu, Veerals, Me

Current Mood: Charged up and ready to go- it’s Monday, guys!

Current Triumph: Last week was a week of milestones for a handful of K Weigh clients.  One client has officially lost 20 kgs whereas 2 others hit the 10 kg loss benchmark.  As cheesy as it sounds, watching my clients achieve their goals gives me the same amount of satisfaction that I felt when I hit targets during my weight loss journey back in the day.

Current Link: Sorry guys, but I’m going to feature one more shameless plug and draw attention to the Pinkathon 10 km for Breast Cancer that I am running on Sunday (you can read more about it here). PLEASE sponsor me– it’s for a good cause and every little bit helps.

What’s your current…

…Instagram fave?

…food?

…triumph?

  1. Waking up naturally is so incredibly glorious indeed – I cannot wait for Winter break here when I get to wake up naturally for almost 11 days straight! OOh! 🙂
I think runny eggs can help bring on world peace – and Congrats on your clients achieving their goals – that’s a huge accomplishment for you and them!
Glad to see you back today, lady! Have a wonderful week!

  2. I LOVE my Sunday mornings too! I literally stay in bed until it is buttshaped.
My bane of existence currently is my impatience – I am craving panckes every weekend but I am always too greedy to wait until they are done. Maybe I start to prep them ahead 🙂
Current food and drink: I whipped up a huge batch of buckwheat groats for the week, so long since I had this! And drink, well, spiced hot wine 🙂

      1. Not as soft. More like rice or quinoa – but I love to make a sweet buckwheat porridge (cook them with cinnamon and ground vanilla, maybe add a banana or other fruit and a few eggwhites at the end – OR when done a fried egg on top :-)) !!

  3. It’s good to see your gorgeous face around these parts again, lady 🙂 I’m gonna have to follow F*CKJERRY because that’s just brilliant, and I can’t help thinking the same thing whenever I hear someone give the age of their child in months 😆 And isn’t it the best feeling in the world to see your clients gaining health and happiness? Definitely the best part of the job.

    1. Ah thanks, friend :)! I think after the 1st birthday, parents should no longer be able to talk about ages in terms of months…let’s see how I feel about this when I pop out my own kid ;)!

  4. Waking up naturally? I’ll be honest and admit I can’t remember the last time I didn’t set an alarm. Technically, I could sleep in on Sundays, too, but still going to bed too late would mean sleeping in until probably the afternoon. And with daylight savings that’d be risking not being able to go outside for a run or walk [for long] anymore.
Your current triump is amazing. It goes to show how much you care for your clients. In case they read your blog they’ll probably be even more assured they picked the right coach.
