Blogging etiquette

I’m sure fellow bloggers would agree that blogs serve as a great platform to share a variety of subjects, be it recipes, workouts, opinions and so forth.  A blogging highlight for me is when someone tries out one of my recipes..even better if they enjoy it.  Unfortunately the downside of sharing your recipes online is the potential of someone else passing it off as their own..either exactly as it is or after merely changing or adding in a couple of ingredients.  File that under “Violation of Blogging Etiquette”…or any kind of etiquette for that matter.

While I love to create my own recipes in the kitchen, I also enjoy trying out other bloggers’ recipes.  And when it’s a case of the latter, I make sure to give credit where due…such as this delicious Marbled Banana Bread from fellow blogger Robyn.

Even though it’s vegan & gluten-free (depending on the oats used), it tastes deliciously moist & rich.  I made it last week for a potluck dinner at a friend’s place and it ended up being a hit.  I’ve had my share of letdowns when it comes to healthified baked goods but rest assured, this tasted as great as it looks!  Let’s just say that when a healthified baked good is been consumed right next to a pan of Betty Crocker brownies, it’s gotta taste good!

I made another loaf over the weekend to keep on hand as snacks for the week…perfect accompaniment for my afternoon cup of coffee! Just a few points:

  • I replaced the coconut sugar with equal amounts of brown sugar
  • I ran out of almond milk so used soy milk instead
  • I think 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder would be enough next time (the recipe calls for 3)

  • I bet walnuts mixed in the batter would be a super addition
  • I want to try adding in coffee powder  next time…Mocha Marbled Banana Bread anyone?

As much as I love my own go-to banana bread recipe, Robyn’s Marbled Banana Bread was a delicious change…and  definitely one I’d recommend you try making too!

What’s the last recipe you tried?

What’s your favourite banana bread add-in?

  1. Oh that really does look delicious!! So long since I made banana bread, I need to change that!
My last recipe was the healthy nutella I made on the weekend. I can not wait to share the recipe!

  2. A blogging highlight for me too is when someone tries out a recipe – be it aother blogger or reader and they email me to let me know the outcome – gosh it sure makes my day!
The last blogger recipe I tried was Mike @ the Iron You’s apple turkey burgers – I left out the cheese, but they were so incredibly good! A friend I made a whole bunch for insisted on taking home the leftovers!
And heck yes to Mocha Marbled Banana Bread – I’ve never been to Robyn’s site before …but heading there to check out that banana bread you make sound totally addicting!

  3. I’m definitely going to need to add this banana bread to my to-bake list!

I got together with my friend last Thursday and made a bunch of recipes: Vegan Caesar salad from Plant Powered Kitchen, a tofu stir fry with a delicious sunflower seed butter coconut orange sauce from Healthy Happy Life, and raw almond butter cups from Oh She Glows. They were all awesome!

    1. Oh wow- you go, girl…you have been on a roll in the kitchen!! Love the sound of those raw AB cups :)!

  4. I’m -so- horrible at actually making the recipes I save… but it can be hard to find the time when I’m constantly in the kitchen experimenting with my own recipes. Robyn’s bread does look freaking amazing, though. I usually go for plain banana bread without any add-ins, but I’d never say no to some chocolate 🙂

    1. I’m with you about plain banana bread! Chocolate banana bread is great but the plain will always be my number 1!

  5. yeah blogger etiquette is a very polite way of saying plagiarism- its never ok to copy someone else’s work and pass it off as your own. the end. and to answer your question- chocolate chips 🙂

  6. DUDE! I am so proud of myself but I have been creating recipes off the top of my head lately – and I have another in the works for TUESDAY! OMG I am soooooo pumped to share it, I just gotta film the video first- but if you like chocolate, which by the looks of this recipe YOU DO…. oh baby!
