A weekend of delicious eats

Holler!  How were all your weekends? Aside from being both relaxing & productive, my weekend was filled with delicious eats.  It started off with pizza at a new-to-me pizzeria called Pizza Metro Pizza.  Some friends claimed it as the best pizza in Bombay, so I had high expectations.   Between the Italian chefs, wood-burning oven, and perfect ratio of sauce to cheese, it didn’t disappoint.  I prefer my pizzas with minimal cheese & lots of sauce…they nailed it.

We skipped dessert at Pizza Metro Pizza in favor of Häagen-Dazs.  After multiple tasters, I settled for a classic: Cookies & Cream.  Desserts are getting more innovative by the day, but ice cream will forever be my #1…some foods are just worth the lactose ;).

As I’m going to be in London on my actual birthday in June, my overly thoughtful friends deemed Saturday as my Bombay birthday.  We lunched at one of my current favorites Salt Water Cafe.  I ordered my usual go-to salmon dish.

It was tasty as always but didn’t hold a candle to dessert.  My friends ordered me Peanut Butter & Dark Chocolate Cookie Dough Cake from Ellipsis…I die.

It was everything I’d want in a cake plus more.  And by more, I mean that it turned out to be the perfect source of glycogen.  I went for a swim on Saturday evening and I surprised myself by hitting a new PDR.  I don’t know where all that energy came from but I felt like a mermaid…I just kept going.  Actually I lie, I know where it came from: S-U-G-A-R.  The restaurant also sent over a complimentary slice of cake & ice cream but clearly my attention was diverted.

The rest of my weekend involved meals at home, which helped balance things out.  They were nothing to write blog home about…except for this beauty:

Smoked Salmon Salad

Those who say that salads aren’t filling clearly aren’t making them right.  Amongst an array of both raw & grilled vegetables, this salad packed in smoked salmon, avocado, alfalfa sprouts & boiled egg whites.   I dressed it with my current favorite salad dressing combo: balsamic vinegar + hummus.  Sounds odd, pairs excellently!

What’s the best thing you ate this weekend?

  1. Peanut Butter AND Dark Chocolate AND Cookie Dough in ONE Cake – I have just one question – did you save me a slice???? 🙂
That’s one goo looking salad – cannot wait to you unraveling all those layers!
Best thing I had this weekend was several taste of experimental bowls of chocolate soup – at some point I even felt chocolated out and chocolate is one of my main food groups!

    1. Haha I definitely ate enough for the both of us ;)! Chocolate soup sounds rather delicious- hope it was a success!

  2. Wow. That cake….we were both running on sugar this weekend…although I certainly hit no PR’s today lol!

You need to hunt down that pizza place at Mumbai airport…..best pizza ever. So my 12 year old self says, but it was a HUGE sauce to cheese ratio, and the sauce was spicy 😉

  3. Happy birthday in advance. You have a nice group. Loved the food u ate its delicious. I dont know how u keep fit eating all those. I went out with family and had some share of dhoka, panner tikka , aloo tikki chat and rosgulla. Sunday my wife made one of my fav stuffed bringal curry had with white rice.

    1. Thanks so much, Gopinath! I balance out these indulgences by eating healthily the rest of the time and also through exercise. Your weekend eats sound delicious 🙂

  4. Oh God, so sorry I wished you a happy birthday on IG – LOL. I will congratulate again in June, promised 🙂
That cake looks so delicious!! Chocolate is ALWAYS the winner for me when it comes to cakes.
Best thing I ate this weekend was an Italian Antipasto Platter with Buffalo Mozzarella, Focciacia, Smoked Ham and Pesto sauce.

    1. Ohh please don’t apologise- it’s always sweet to receive birthday wishes :D! Love antipasto plates like what you had mmm!

  5. I always feel like such a bad HLB and health coach when I say that some of my best workouts have been fuelled by sugar… but it’s true! I’m all for eating healthy, but sometimes there’s no denying that cookies, cake, and ice cream give my feet wings 😆 And we’re not even going to talk about what I ate this weekend because it PALES in comparison to your meals. I need a chocolate cake in my life…

    1. Haha I couldn’t agree more! I was waiting for the energy dip but I was literally flying the rest of the day :D!

  6. All of your eats look so good, but that dessert – oh man!

The best thing I ate this weekend was cauliflower crust pizza. We made it at our friend’s place, and really squeezed all the water out of the cauliflower. It was perfection!

    1. Oooh I haven’t made cauliflower pizza in ages, must do so too! The key really is all about squeezing out the h20!

  7. Hello deliciousness! I like my pizzas with a chewier crust (ie. not too thin) and that one looks perfect! And that cake? I can only imagine how good it would be made with soy nut butter!

The best thing I ate this weekend was a skillet lasagna filled with chicken sausage and cheese!

    1. Ohhh if you ever make a soy nut butter cake, please do share- I am sure it would taste fab….almost fab as your lasagna- YUM! 🙂

  8. I love that there’s someone who gets just as excited as I do for a great gorgeous salad as much as a big beautiful pizza. It all sounds delicious from the greens straight through to the cake and ice cream.

I miss swimming. My last two gyms haven’t had a pool, but damn if that wasn’t the best workout. Swim on Khushboo.

    1. With so much natural color, it’s hard to argue with salad being a beautiful thang…glad you concur 😀

  9. My husband and I went to a Brazilian restaurant on Saturday. They come around with meat on skewers and cut pieces off for you. So filling and so good!
