Eating through London

Hey guys!  I’m actually writing this on board- I’ll hit “Publish” when I’m back in a Wi-Fi zone.   Forget movies and reading, blogging is the way forward when it comes to killing time during travel :)!  As soon as I finish up this post or my laptop dies on me, depending what comes first, I’m either going to start reading Pride & Prejudice or watch Big Bang Theory reruns…and whatever else Emirates Entertainment System has to offer.

I can’t believe how quickly these past 6 weeks has flown.  I feel like I posted about my travel nightmare just last week- apparently time flies when you’re having fun.  That being said, I’m looking forward to getting back to Mumbai and back into a routine.  And for when that hint of sadness which creeps up at the thought of leaving London, I’ll start the countdown to my next booked holiday.

Although I’ve been sharing quite a bit about my stay in London, what better way to round up the trip with a food recap?  There are SO many restaurants in London I would recommend eating at, but here’s a brief list based on the places that were both yum & offered good lighting.  It wouldn’t be fair to put up a picture which don’t do a restaurant justice ;).  I’ve linked up all the restaurants to their individual sites, so just click on the restaurant name for more info/menu viewing.

Between today’s and Monday’s post , I feel like this blog has been super food-heavy.  I promise I’ll blog about workouts soon enough :).

What’s the last restaurant you visited? What did you order?

  1. I don’t eat out awhole lot – but if I remember correctly, think I made it to “Moe’s Southwestern Grill” recently and shared a “Joey bag of donuts” (burrito) with my daughter.
Balthazar sounds like my kinda restaurant -chocolate souffle, raspberry souffle and strawberry cheesecake -all under one roof! ooh!
Time sure does fly when you are having fun 🙂

  2. I want to go to Frego! My Gosh, those Sweet Potato Fries and Frittata look so perfect! Oh and chocolate soufflé….I am drooling here!
Hope you have a good return back home and back into your routine!

  3. LOVE sumosan! You sure have made me hungry 🙂 Haha, and that salmon nicoise salad looks divine. Balthazar is the same as the one in NY? It’s so yummy, especially for brunch!

Last restaurant I went to was Yauatcha, but tonight my mum is taking me for a last dinner at Zodiac Grill, and I’m looking forward to some escargot and foie gras! yum 🙂

  4. I just finished eating dinner and seriously, this sparked my hunger again. Nice one, Khushboo. I had Comptoir when I went to Westfield in the UK too… and subsequently spent a good 45 minutes finding a damn table to eat it at!

The last restaurant I visited was a Japanese one which was pretty good, but I’m seeing Dad this weekend and plan on OD’ing on some seafood!

  5. Good grief – I can’t even imagine how delicious the eats must be in London. I’ve never been, but it’s definitely on my list of places that I want to visit… although I’ll admit it’s more for the shopping and sights than the food 😉 But anywho, the last place I got food from doesn’t really count as a restaurant, but is more of a bakery… I went to a place called Duchess over the weekend and bought the most amazing milk chocolate orange scone… gah! Not a good thing to be thinking about at 5 AM 😛

    1. You know I love food but I would have to choose it’s beauty & shopping over it- both are amazing! And suddenly I find myself craving a milk choc orange scone at 10 pm…thanks Amanda 😉

  6. Oh wow, you definitely ate well on this trip! I’m going to need to bookmark this post for if, I mean WHEN, I visit London. Those sweet potato fries from Fego look perfect! And those chocolate souffles too.

The last restaurant I ate at was Blacktree on Saturday where I got an heirloom tomato and mozzarella appetizer, arctic char with dill aioli, and a mango ice cream split for dessert. I’m eating out again today when I’m in Toronto so I’m hoping to find a good place to eat!

  7. All of that food looks amazing! Wow I remember you posting about your travel woes also, was that really 6 weeks ago?! wow, time flies. and omg LOVE big bang theory!! last restaurant i went to was actually last night and i got steak (which i rarely do) and fries. it was delicious 🙂

    1. Yay for a fellow BBT lover :)! I actually saw Rajesh 2 weeks ago in London…I felt too lame to ask him for a photo ha!

  8. So thank you for making me crave ice cream, salmon, and cheesecake at 9:30 in the morning :-p although I have to ask, what on earth is the cage-looking thing surrounding the ice cream in the picture from Sumosan? And London is already on my bucket list of places to visit, so now I have a list of restaurants to try when I get there 😉 I can’t believe you’ve been there 6 weeks already! It’s ridiculous how fast the summer flew by.
Last restaurant I went to was Joey’s Seafood, and I had fish tacos….unless you want to count the Yogurty’s I went to afterwards as a restaurant :-p

    1. You are so welcome :)! That cage is made up of latticed sugar..but let’s be honest- it’s an afterthought given the rest of the dessert!

  9. Talk about a mouthwatering post! I’ll take a plate of everything, please. 🙂 I’m especially eyeing the cheesecake and soufflés… I guess sweets do happen to catch my eye the most. 😉
    Have safe travels!!!

  10. Great post… I’ve only tried Le Pain and Valerie. We have a Balthazaar in Manhattan too, I have to try it for brunch sometime. Glad you had a good time, and it’s nice that you already booked your next trip. 🙂 Part of the excitement is looking forward to something new.

  11. You had some incredible dishes! I wouldn’t have wanted to eat that dessert that came in the cage-looking cover. Too beautiful. Was it all edible?

How sweet that they wrote Happy Birthday on the almond dessert plate.

Hope your flight home went well 🙂

    1. The sugar cage was edible but let’s be honest- ain’t nobody got time for that when there’s ice cream & cake involved 😉

  12. Lobster linguini?! I’m not much of a pasta person, but I think I could handle that for sure! That banana apple pie looks amazing! Is that…is that green tea ice cream I spy? I’ve always wanted to try that! And I will take a truckload of those sweet potato fries…please and thank you! 😉

Haha, I love vacation food recaps!

  13. Really great writing! More writers should care as much as you do about the content they produce. This has really given me a good reason to think more on this subject. Thank you for this.
