Friday Favorites: 08/02

Happy Friday…that too the first Friday of August!  In typical July fashion, this week sped by.  I feel like I just wrote last week’s Friday Favorites post.  Without further adieu:

  • If you follow me on Instagram (@khushboothadani), you’re probably aware that I went for the Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory musical earlier this week.  Especially after reading the book and watching the original film countless times as a kid, watching the musical was on my “To-Do List” even before I arrived in London.  It only reinforced my love for the story- the sets were amazing and the cast acted outstandingly…especially Charlie Bucket.  For someone so young, he sure knew how to bust a tune or 2.

  • One annoying factor about blogging is eating something so tasty and only then remembering to take a photo.  If I had remembered, I promise I would have made more of an effort in terms of presentation.  Pretty or not, trust me when I say that this snack combo tastes yum: Mix a pinch of vanilla essence with cottage cheese.  Spoon onto crispbread and top with blueberries.  Had I taken a photo before digging in, you would also be seeing 2 crispbreads instead of 1:

  • Although I’ve blogged about running plenty of times in the past, I don’t think I’ve ever discussed an essential component: shoes!  I am an Asics girl throughout. They might not be as pretty as Nike trainers, but they give my feet great support & cushioning.  For the past 5 years, I’ve bought the exact same pair 5 times.  If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it right? The only thing that changes is color, and this time I’ve “stepped” away (pun obviously intended 😉) from white:

  • Lately I seem to be hitting the jackpot where post is concerned.  First it was Chobani and now Popchips.  They kindly sent me a box with various flavors including Original, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Sour Cream & Onion, Salt & Pepper, and Barbeque.  I’m usually wary about packaged food marketed as “healthy” but these lived up to mark.  Although they are baked instead of fried, they taste as delicious (if not more) than regular potato chips.  The added bonus is that Popchips only contain a handful of natural ingredients, none of which are preservatives, artificial colors, hydrogenated oils or MSG.  They’re not much of a filling snack, but are ideal for when the savory munchies kick in. My favorite flavors are Barbeque and Sour Cream & Onion.  I’ve been taking them to share during picnics in the park and they seem to get wiped out in no time:

  • And speaking of parks, I went photo crazy at the Serpentine in Hyde Park & Kyoto Gardens in Holland Park:

  1. I get such a HUGE chocolate craving when I watch Charlie & the Chocolate Factory! And Johnny Depp is just fab.
I am an Asics girl as well! I tried Nikes’, but they are too narrow for me.
    Happy Weekend Girl!!

  2. Awwr it’s been ages since I’ve seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory… but I remember being completely smitten with that story when I was younger… even if it DID always make me hungry 😉 And speaking of hungry, I’m lolving the idea of adding vanilla essence to dairy. I’ve actually been wanting to try that with yogurt, so it looks like I’m going to have to give it a go.

    Happy Friday, love!

    1. Ooh PLEASE add vanilla essence to your yogurt next time- it’s a necessity for me every time I eat yogurt 🙂

  3. I adooore Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I’ve never seen a live show of it though, that would be amazing. But movie wise, I’m good with both the Gene Wilder and the Johnny Depp versions 😉
And your snack looks awesome! Lately, my snacks have been raw mixed nuts, Greek yogurt and cereal, or cheese strings.

  4. Ok slightly random but are those crispbreads cruskits by any chance? If so, we had the exact same snack…well sort of, except swap the blueberries and vanilla for cinnamon and apples. A musical version of Charlie and the chocolate factory sounds awesome, it was one of my favourite books and movie growing up, but NOT the Johnny Depp version!

When I do cardio, I tend to wear the same shoes as my lifting ones so nike frees. Comfortable 🙂

  5. Kyoto Gardens looks so pretty! And the musical sounds awesome too! That’s so cute how you had chocolate (Maltesers) while watching the show 😛

  6. I didn’t even know there was a Willy Wonka musical. That sounds absolutely wonderful! I want to go to it.
Okay, I really need to try these pop chips! I still haven’t yet.
    Happy Friday!

  7. Oh i love charlie & the chocolate factory! During a trip to london back when i was in college I saw Mamma Mia, and i just fell in love with london theater. it was one of my favorite performances. and oh i was addicted to pop chips for a while! they are so good!

  8. Asics all the way!! I buy the same pair too…I LOVE my shoes. I also love Popchips…and I now want some..really bad. How fun that you went to see that play, I was wondering what it was when you posted that picture to IG!

  9. I’m in need of new running shoes so I’ll definitely have to check out the Asics! The last time I went with Nike, and I love them, but the Asics sound fabulous. What pair do you buy?
I’m so jealous you got sent free products to review! I would love to do such reviews. Hopefully someday! Popchips are so good aren’t they? I’ve only tried the original variety, but I just love them. 🙂

  10. I have to try Popchips… I’ve seen them. I really like Salt + Vinegar chips. lately… i’ve been snacking on Indian Mithai – milk cake – my mother in law is visiting so she bought us some mithai. That stuff is lethal, but so good. 🙂

    1. Ah we need to switch locations i.e. you move to Mumbai and eat your heart out on mithai…I’ll head to NYC and do the same with cupcakes 😉

  11. I love that park…how much longer are you in London? I may be making my way back soon?

Popchips are good but the Papadums at M & S really are just divine.
