Friday Favorites 07/19

Top of the morning guys..or PM depending on your current time zone :)!  Here are some of my faves from the week:

  • I’ve eaten the same lunch 3 times this week because it’s that good: a piece of wheat, rye & sunflower bloomer toast topped with cream cheese, basil, tomato and chicken breast and a spinach salad with, cucumber, carrots, grilled zucchini & blueberries…all topped with balsamic vinegar & hummus.  Each bite is like summer in my mouth.

  • Even though I wasn’t a sporty kid in the slightest, tennis was an exception….probably because it feels more like fun than exercise ;).  I started taking lessons when I was about 8 and even played for my high school’s Varsity team.  Although I hadn’t lifted a racquet since junior year, watching the Wimbledon final this year spurred an itch to get back on the courts.  I’ve played a couple of times in the past week and am definitely going to look into classes when I’m back in Mumbai.

  • Even though I never got cravings for diet soft drinks after giving them completely last year, I’ve recently been occasionally craving sweet drinks.  As luck would have it, sweet drinks are either loaded with empty calories or aspartame.  Fruit juice spritzers (fruit juice mixed with sparkling water) tend to do the trick as do SoBe V Water.  It’s free from artificial sweeteners, colors, flavors and supercharged with vitamins.  Instead of sugar or aspartame, SoBe V Water is sweetened with Steviol and comes in a variety of refreshing flavors like:
    • Forti-Fight Goji Berry & Blackcurrant
    • Kick Ginger & Mango
    • Glow Pomegranate & Blueberry

They are a bit on the sweet side but perfect after diluting it with some extra water. (Disclaimer: I am not compensated for this description, nor am I given any freebies…I just really like the product :))

  • Between Wedding Crashers and The Internship, Vince Vaughn & Owen Wilson might be my favorite on-screen duo.  I saw the latter last night and loved it.  Along with being hilarious & inspiring, it also left me with a hint of jealousy towards Google’s employees- free food (Starbucks included), a slide to get you down to the lobby, AND sleep pods? Sign me up 🙂

  • And speaking of inspiration, I couldn’t not share this image:

What’s your favorite summertime drink?

What’s the last movie you saw?

  1. That lunch looks divine..!! I love having smoked salmon and spinach salad topped with hummus, but that chicken looks great! Never tried blueberries in my salad but I do a ton of oranges, peaches and grapefruit in mine 🙂
Also love your successful people bit – it’s so true! Attitude makes a huge difference.
Last movie I saw was Despicable Me 2 and at home Ides of March – Ryan Gosling is to die for! And favorite summertime drink is always an iced latte – caffeine, indulgent and so refreshing!

  2. So glad you enjoyed the movie! One of my friends works at Google and it sounds super cool – he has a mini golf course in his office!

That water sounds right up my alley! I gave up Diet Coke last year but I just replaced one addiction with another, and now drink waaay too much coconut water. It hurts my wallet!

    1. Haha now’s the perfect time to try out this water – they’re up for offer at 2 500-ml bottles for £1.50 at Tescos 😉

  3. I still need to watch The Internship. I love the Owen and Vince duo as well. Wedding Crashers is one of my favorite movies!!

    Have an awesome weekend, K!

  4. So your lunch looks delicious! I’d be eating that a few days a week too 😉 And do you have Zevia over there? I find that they’re a good choice when I want something sweet and fizzy but don’t want diet Coke (which I’m trying to keep at one every week or two). Not sure how you feel about stevia, but I always thought that it was at least a step up from aspartame.

  5. That lunch sounds incredible! Especially that toast. I’m going to have to give it a try minus the chicken 🙂 Maybe I could use tempeh bacon instead!
I love SoBe life waters, but haven’t come across the V version. The flavors sound amazing though! I’ll be on the lookout!

  6. I think coconut water is a refreshing summer drink, but I haven’t had sodas for literally years! I’m not a fan of Gatorade or sugar free drinks either.

  7. Funny you mention eating the same Lunch three days in a row because I’ve been eating the same Lunch this whole week too! I can’t get enough. I tend to get in little obsessions like that.
Oh now I want to see that movie! It looks good, I can’t even remember the last movie I’ve been too. It’s been far too long.

  8. I love this post! that lunch looks delicious and the chart on the bottom of successful vs unsuccessful people is soo true! and im going to have to try that sobe water. i gave up diet soda last year and i was doing great until it got really hot this summer, and i started drinking diet coke again. so i’m trying to switch to flavored seltzer water, which is ok but not quite cutting it. this may be the answer! have a great weekend!

    1. Hope you’re able to get your hands on SoBe water- it’s definitely a nice alternative to Diet Coke 🙂

  9. Great job kicking the diet soft drink habit! I find that to be one of my vices, especially when I’m out and want something fizzy, although once I have one, its as if the cravings start!

Its been ages since I’ve seen a movie in the cinema (no thanks to the price increases- $17.50 for a movie ticket NOT on a friday night/saturday night) but I’m keen on seeing the Internship- I agree the two of them together are a humorously lethal combination! Hope your enjoying the weekend!

    1. The prices of movie tickets have gone crazy- definitely makes you think twice about visiting the cinema!

  10. Oh I like that inspiration picture, it makes me think of two very distinct friends. And I am so bad at tennis! It was the only sport I hated! 🙂

  11. I’m a boring water girl year round hahaha. Although I have been drinking a lot of unsweetened iced teas since working at Starbucks!! Hey, it’s free!!

    1. I’ve been meaning to try them at Starbucks but am slightly weary about how they live up- will definitely give them a shot now!

  12. Your lunch sounds soooo good!! I am totally craving hummus now.
I drink water with fresh lemon juice all day right now. So refreshing, I love it. To make it sweeter or tastier, I add cucumber or strawberries to it.

    1. Yum- I love making naturally flavored waters when I have guests coming over…especially for those who don’t drink alcohol 🙂
