Favorites from the last week of November

Wow…is it really already December tomorrow?!  As cliché as it sounds, this month FLEW by.  November’s definitely been a great month but I’m excited for December to start.  But before it does, I want to recap on a few favourites from this past week:

1) Homemade applesauce: Diced apples cooked in water & cinnamon…3 simple ingredients yet one heavenly outcome!  Doubt me all you want but I swear it’s like eating apple pie filling!  On oats, mixed in yogurts, straight up on a spoon..I can’t get enough!

2) Savoury breakfasts: Maybe it’s because I overdid it with the desserts over the weekend but I have been all about the savoury breakfasts this week: a veggie sausage stir fry on Monday, scrambled eggs on Tuesday and an omelet yesterday!  It’s definitely been a welcome change which I can see sticking!

3) London: I’m getting ahead of myself here, but just knowing I’m going to be back in less than a week makes me giddy!  Although I’m not quite ready to be reunited with its painfully cold temperatures, I can’t wait to go back to this:

4) Starbucks soy cappuccinos: Everyone is all about the holiday drinks at Starbucks during this time of the year but I prefer to keep it classic: Soy cappuccino, extra hot!  I feel like a coffee junkie but I almost need to get my fix daily…yes, need!  For all those times I described Starbucks coffee as “sh!t”, I’m eating drinking my words

5) Shawshank Redemption: As much as I love watching movies, I seemed to have missed out on so many of the classics: Titanic, Sound of Music, Cool Runnings, Forest Gump to name a few.  Starting off with Shawshank Redemption, I’m on a mission to play catch-up.  Although I’m 18 years late, I really enjoyed the movie.  Tell me I’m not the only one who finds Morgan Freeman’s deep voice kinda soothing?

  1. The new James Bond movie was pretty awesome! And seeing a lot of my friends last week was waaaay too much fun. 🙂 I LOVE this time of the year!

And don’t feel too bad – I have yet to watch Shawshank Redemption. I’ve been meaning to forever…maybe this weekend!

    1. There’s something about this time of the year that gives me so much more energy to do things and make the most of all the festivities…love it :)!

  2. how long will you be staying in London for?
I’m so excited for you, seriously love that place!

All those movies you listed that you missed out on – you MUST watch!! ooo can’t wait to see what you think.
funnily, Shawshank Redemption is one I haven’t seen!

    1. I’m there for 3 weeks- can’t wait! I just got the Sound of Music dvd so I think that will be the next one to tick of my list ;)!

  3. Homemade applesauce and Starbucks capps – that’s pretty much what I’ve been living on for the past two months. And I remember you saying that Starbucks had bad coffee! I’ll admit that I haven’t been to many fancy coffee shops around here, but bad or not, I crave my afternoon cappuccino like nobody’s business. Oh and I had to laugh big time at your comment about Morgan Freeman’s voice – so, so true.

    Happy Friday, love! <3

    1. I always think of you & your love for Starbucks cappucino…it might be a chain coffee shop but they have mastered the drink completely!

  4. Hold the phone…have you never seen Titanic?!?
Puhlease change this soon. Sorry, not having seen this film, just isn’t normal:p!( You’ll need a box of tissues at your side. Just a heads up).

Oh yeah the UK is CHILLY right now! I write this whilst sitting practically on top of my spaceheater, wearing a dressing gown with a hot water bottle. BRrr.

    Homemade applesauce is the best!
    Xxx

    1. Haha I promise that I will watch Titanic ASAP! I have a feeling I’m going to be BFFs with our spaceheater at home when I’m in London!

  5. OMGGG.. I’m so jealous you are going back to London!!! EEEeeee. I have a couple more London posts left, for cafes especially, I’ll get them out this week. Maybe you can check one out “if” you haven’t been already. OMG, go to Dishoom and tell me what you think – Black Daal and Dhaba Chicken are the best!
And Ms. K, what was that comment on your SB cup?? Sounds like you smell good and someone noticed. 😉

    1. Ohh please do put them up- I’d love to try out new places in London! As for the Starbucks message, I think he was referring to the meaning of my name versus my actual scent…otherwise it would be kinda creepy ;)!

  6. YES! I love homemade applesauce!

And I haven’t seen a lot of classic movies either. There are SO many I want to see. You definitely need to watch The Sound of Music though – I adore that one. 😀

Some of my favourites from this week are candy cane chocolate crackle ice cream, watching What to Expect When You’re Expecting with some friends, and How Sweet Eats’ crunchy chicken stir fry recipe!

    1. Loved What to Expect When You’re Expecting…although it made me somewhat relieved that babies aren’t in my near future ;)!

  7. I can’t believe you haven’t seen Titanic. I’ve seen it 42 times. Yes, I counted, haha. Let’s just say I had a big Leo crush when I was 15 😉

And you’re coming to London again?! The weather is actually beautiful at the moment. It’s cold but hasn’t rained in ages 😀 They keep forecasting snow, which I’m super excited about (I’ve never seen it!).

  8. November really flew by for me as well! I think the best part of the month was having a few days off over the Thanksgiving holiday to spend time at home and with my husband. I’m now looking forward to the end of this month to do the same!

  9. Love all the things on this post! I wish I was going to London next week, I’d be giddy too!!! Have fun!!! And that apple sauce, and savoury b’fast both look delish!

  10. You’re London-bound?! Eee! How about I meet you there? I’d love to see the city during the holidays; I’ve only visited in the summer months, and can imagine that it’s even more magnificent when it’s all lit up! How long will you be there?

I require a daily soy cappuccino fix too. 🙂 Occasionally I’ll mix things up with a pump of sugar-free peppermint, vanilla or cinnamon dolce, but for the most part, I prefer mine plain. The foam on top is a treat in itself! Have you ever tried an almond milk cappuccino? They’re hard to find here, but one artisan coffee/gelato shop close to my house makes them, and they’re amaaazing.

Titanic, The Sound of Music, Cool Runnings, and Forrest Gump are three of my favorite movies! Please let us know what you think! Each film transports me back to a particular time in my life—especially Titanic. It debuted when I was in 6th grade (read: hormonal), and I was certain that Leonardo di Caprio was the man I would marry. Nearly 15 years later, and he still hasn’t tied the knot. There’s still hope! 😉 xoxo

  11. Oh man, I want Morgan Freeman to narrate my life–I love his voice! And I definitely DON’T doubt you on the applesauce–I love microwaving apples+cinn+h2o, no sugar needed, it IS like pie!

      1. Oh my gosh, if I were Morgan Freeman, I’d tape myself saying all sorts of things, and then just replay it and keep myself company with my sweet, smooth, deep voice…
