Important Questions

Hey guys!  I saw this survey floating around a while ago, but thought I’d save it for a day when I didn’t have it in me to bust out a post….or at least a post which required me to think /write coherently.  Yep, call it a case of the Fridays ;):

BREAKFAST

1. Favorite cereal as a child?

Anything coated in sugar but more specifically, Cinnamon Toast Crunch!  And trust  me, those recommended serving sizes fell on deaf ears blind eyes!

2. Coffee or Tea? With milk or without?

If I had kids, it would be like asking me to choose between them!  If I’m drinking green/herbal tea, it has to be sans milk.  With my coffee it’s usually with a splash of soy milk, but if I’m drinking English breakfast or Indian chai, the milkier the better!

3. The one food you eat most often at breakfast?

If the last 6 months are anything to go by, oats and yogurt!

LUNCH

1. Sandwiches are generally considered a “lunch food.” If you had to choose between a grilled cheese and a peanut butter and jelly, which would you pick?

I crave savory at lunchtime so grilled cheese it is, even better with truffle oil.  On a separate note, the PB & J combo is so over-hyped….peanut butter  & banana is WAY better!

Let’s be real: peanut butter makes anything taste good!

2. You can only put four ingredients in your salad (not including greens); what do you throw in the mix? Additionally, which greens and dressing do you pick?

4 ingredients? Talk about stingy!  Given my current lunchtime favorites, I would pick grilled chicken, feta, chickpeas & roasted aubergine on a bed of spinach….all topped with balsamic vinegar and hummus!

3. One food you can’t live without at lunch?

Veggies….lame I know, but they are always incorporated into my lunches.

I’m not entirely lame 😉

DINNER

1. It’s the end of the day. You’re tired, hungry, and your fridge is empty. If a fast food (from a chain) is your only option, where do you go and what do you order?

I am going to pretend I’m in London while answering this question: Either a bean pitta from Nandos (hot) or a box of salmon avocado maki from Itsu!

2. TV/computer on or off while you’re eating?

If I’m eating with others, I would rather engage in conversation.  Otherwise TV/computer has to be on.  I don’t care what various studies reveal: mindful eating is boring!

What I would do for some Nandos right about now…

3. The one food you eat most often at dinner?

Eggs- they’re just so easy & versatitle.  Lately I’m hooked on scrambling 2 whites with 1 whole, topped with taco seasoning & salsa!

DESSERT

1. Choose between these two American desserts: cheesecake or apple pie?

Cheesecake hands down!  Although if the apple pie in question is served à la mode, I might choose otherwise!

2. Choose between these two foreign desserts: tiramisu (Italy) or flan (Spain)?

Up until I went to Paris a few years ago with my sister & cousin, I had this gross notion of what flan tasted like.  However we bought one to share on the Eurostar back and let’s just say, we all kinda wished that we didn’t have to share ;).  Nonetheless I would still choose tiramisu.  Side note: if you’re ever in Mumbai and want amazing tiramisu, go to 212 in Worli….trust me on this!

Tiramisu at Signor Sassi (London)

3. Ice cream: cone or cup?

Cups!  Although cones are nice in theory, there’s too much pressure to hurry through so that I don’t end up with ice cream dripping on me and overall a sticky mess #foodieproblems

Answer any (or all) of the above- I enjoy reading answers to these surveys as much as filling them out!

  1. I think I may do this survey too 🙂 The coffee or tea question is very difficult for me! I love coffee in the morning generally, like when Im up at 5am. But as the day goes on, all I want is tea!!

  2. Love reading these surveys! And I love how you put the coffee jacket around your iced drinks – I do that too! My hands always seem to be cold, so holding anything iced is definitely no good. And I could never in my life choose between coffee and tea either. A good day involves both, and I’m not willing to give that up 😀 Oh, and I’m definitely with you on PB&J being overrated – the banana and nut butter combo just rock my socks off.

    Happy Friday!

    1. I get cold SO fast – especially when I drink smoothies, it has to be served with a cup of tea on the side haha!

  3. PB&Banana for the win! YES! Why is PB&J even an option when bananas exist? And yes, Fridays are totally the best days for surveys/easy posts, haha.

  4. Love reading your answers to these survey. We really are so similar, my answers are nearly all pretty much the same as yours.
Mmm childhood cereals were the best!! For me its a tie between cinnamon toast crunch and crunchy nut cornflakes. I don’t think a box of either would make it through the week around me.

    1. Side note, do you remember those cinnamon toasts we used to make at home i.e. the real deal: toast topped with butter, sugar and cinnamon…YUM!

  5. Sable@SquatLikeALady

haha I agree wholeheartedly with ALL your answers! Sounds like there are some legit fast food places in the UK!

    1. Hahah I’m with you..any cheesecake will do! Although if the option is available, you must try the choc chip cookie dough variety!

  6. Mmm… lots of tasty looking foods in this survey! I might have to take the survey myself. For now, I’ll answer question #1 in the dessert category: between cheesecake and apple pie, I’d choose cheesecake every time without a doubt!

  7. That london tiramisu looks lovely! I used to have a minor craving for Cinnamon Toast Crunch after I had a sleepover at my friends house. I usually wanted random cereals after trying them at friends’ houses—everything always tasted better at other people’s houses :P!

  8. This was really interesting…I think we have a lot in common! I too can’t eat without doing something else (unless others are eating with me) and I love Nandos and eggs too!

  9. Eeee! I haven’t read any blogs since Thursday (studying for midterms has half killed me), and yours was the very first I came to tonight…just in time to find this survey! Yay!! So happy you filled it out! 😀

I don’t even know where to start! You already know that I too loooved Cinnamon Toast Crunch when I was little (and still do, although I wish there was a GF version!). Peanut butter + banana is WAY better than pb + jelly, but I’d also choose grilled cheese at lunch (followed by something sweet, of course! have to have both sweet and savory). 😉 Oh, and I think that non-lame veggie-packed lunch is much more legit–and substantial–than some leafy salad. 😉

Nandos! I still need to check out the one we have here in DC. And I agree with you about cheesecake and tiramisu 100%! I hope to visit Mumbai someday and share a piece with you at 212! (Or maybe not share…two pieces, please!)

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend! <3 xoxo

    1. I hope your mid-terms are going well, Sara! And you are most welcome to Bombay any time….your sweet tooth will be in for a treat :)!
