12 takeaways from the first week of 2012

1) Never embark on a road trip without a fully charged phone.

2) Boiled eggs probably rank as one of the most embarrassing items to eat in an office…or any closed space.  I love them but they stink like ass (sorry to be graphic ;))

3) I’m well on my way to meeting my new year’s resolution to read more thanks to:

4) I’m more bad ass than I thought: 11 numbing injections in my mouth in one go and I walked out alive!

5) For the past week, my handbag has resembled a First Aid Kit: painkillers, anti-inflammatory cream, rolling pin, compression bandage- I got it all.

6) A further benefit of home workouts: eliminates a step in the getting ready process.

7) Using Green Tea as an aid to pop a pill is not a wise idea.

8) Deep tissue massages are the perfect example of sweet pain.  For all those who live in Mumbai (or plan to visit), I can’t recommend Wellington Mews enough!

9) Giving up Diet Coke and chocolate has been easier than I thought.

10) I love Jennifer Aniston but Horrible Bosses confirmed she needs to give up acting and just bask in the glory days of Friends.

11) Wasabi peas are quite possibly the best salad topper.

12) Given the fact I find Mumbai rather chilly right now, I should probably scratch off London/US/that side of the world as potential winter travel destinations.

What’s did you away from the first week of 2012?

  1. I felt the same way after watching Horrible Bosses! I was embarrassed for her!

One of my takeways so far from 2012 is that a little bit of preparation and planning go a long way. So far my mornings have been less hectic because of everything I do the night before.

  2. Oh my goodness 11 injections?! I hope your mouth/teeth are doing ok! Eggsalad is also another terrible office food. Stinks up the the place like crazy and then you get dirty looks from co-workers!

  3. I agree about the deep tissue massage- amazinggggg “pain.” And you know what I discovered upon my first deep tissue? How much tension we hold in our butt cheeks–have to say that was a startling surprise of how badly that area needed to be massaged (dear, that sounds dirty, but you know what I mean).
Oh and for the record, I used green tea at work to pop some advil last week. Ugh.
My do-away from first week of 2012: That I really should start wearing lipstick more often 😉

  4. Love this post idea! Girl, 11 injections in your mouth?!?!?! You are the most badass chick ever, holy cow! And yay for stinky foods, tuna never fails to give me some freaky stares on campus haha 😉

  5. I love Wasabi peas! And boiled eggs…and tuna. I cringe whenever a coworker brings in tuna for lunch. I mean, yeah, i know it’s tasty–could you save it for dinner at home?

  6. Giving up diet coke has been easy for you? Way to go! It’s the habit I’m finding hardest to kick. Also totally agree about the boiled eggs – only to be eaten at home, in private!

  7. For the last few months I have missed drinking diet coke more than coffee. I am impressed that you have willingly given it up! 11 numbing injections, that is crraazzyy!

  8. that reminds me my husband phone is not charged and I have a movie date with him nyc.. we literally have to plan out where exactly he will meet me. so annoying! oh man, and I didn’t like horrible bosses one bit, and although that was a risque role for her, i didn’t love her in it. Yes I agree, she needs to stop doing movies and get another sitcom gig.

  9. Hahahaha – so true about the eggs. Lucky I’m still at home and don’t start work till next week 😛

But I guess the one thing from this first week – I REALLY need to start getting up more earlier otherwise I am going to DIE next Monday. 😛

  10. LOL @ num 2 & 10. Hi five @ num 4 & 9!

I’ve learnt in the past week that I do not need red wine to beat the winter chill. In sub zero temperatures, a glass of warm water with 5 strands of kesar, has the exact same effect!

      1. Yup, we can wear boots from November till February may be March as well but frankly speaking they are worn just because they look good and not because its cold…. Min temp that I have seen is 10 degrees during night, days are pleasant with a nice breeze and temps around 23-25 degrees 🙂

By the way, I have given you an award, check out my latest post for details

  11. I always forget to charge my phone!! Especially when needed! 🙁
I love the image of you working out in your pajamas lol
Sometimes… maybe most of the time, leaving the house and getting to the gym is the hardest part!

  13. I felt exactly the same when I watched the movie-think she should stick to ‘Rachel’ type roles from now on! So far 2012 has started on a healthy note for me 🙂 Have done a form of exercise almost everyday and loving that strawberries are finally back in season!
