The phrase Happy Monday could not be any more apt: I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a new week to start. This past weekend may go down in history as one of the lamest yet thanks to being hit by the flu. It involved a lot of tissues and quality time with my bed. Put it this way: you know your weekend is lame when the highlight of it is a smoothie. Well to be fair, the smoothie tasted pretty amazing.
While I was ill my cravings for the following two foods went through the roof:
- Fruit: My body was dehydrated it was probably also a sign that my body was deplenished of certain vitamins and nutrients. I obliged
- Chocolate: Although chocolate cravings never need a reason, chocolate is known to be a natural mood-enhancer and perhaps my body/serotonin levels needed a boost. Who am I to argue with science??
Fortunately this smoothie squashed them both:
Kill 2 Birds Cravings With One Smoothie:
- 200 ml chocolate (soy) milk
- 2 large handfuls frozen strawberries
- Pinch of xanthan gum – optional

Combine the above in blender and whizz away. Top with chocolate chips if you’re feeling wild…as you can see, clearly I was

On a brighter note, I was feeling a-ok on Sunday evening and saw New Year’s Eve, which I loved!
The cast alone is guaranteed entertainment and between Zac Effron, Josh Duhamel & Jon Bon Jovi, the movie is oozing eye-candy
! If you enjoyed movies with multiple plots like Love Actually and Valentine’s Day, this is definitely a must-watch!
What did you do this weekend? Let me live vicariously through you…

Dude my weekend was lame with a capital L too haha Stupid studying takes away all the fun!
That smoothie looks amazing though
Ps–hope you feel better soon!
Thanks! I’m feeling much better!
Geek alert but studying > being sick
!
awwww… sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather. i was also a bit sick.. still kinda blocked. SO annoying.
Hope you’re feeling better too!
The flu?! I’m so sorry to hear that! I hope you feel better soon.
And I can’t wait to see New Years Eve. I already told Vishnu to mark his calendar…he’s thrilled!
Haha he will love it…and if not, remind him Jessica Biel, Hilary Swank and Halle Berry are all in it…eye candy for both sexes
Blehh I hope you feel better soon love! Great smoothie recipe too
And I had a fun night Friday in NYC, but went to sleep at 9:45 pm on Saturday night and woke up at 8 ish… wild and crazy I know!
Thanks, am feeling much better! Haha it’s ok, your wild Friday night makes up for Saturday’s granny bed time
SO JEALOUS! I want to see this movie asap
You must- it’s fab!
oh no! hope you’re feeling better!
Lots better, thanks!
Oh, no! glad youre feeling better.
And I want to see that movie. Peter thinks I’m crazy, but I loved Valentine’s Day and think movies like that with all the stories connected somehow are so cute.
Thanks Tina! It’s definitely a must-see! Did you guys ever see Crash? If not, it’s definitely one both of you would enjoy (serious, yet interconnected!)
That smoothie sounds de-lish! Can you believe I’ve never tried chocolate soy milk? Shocking I know. My weekend was similarly lame as you know, but I managed to get in a great run on Saturday which actually made me feel better!
I really want to see NYE but am not expecting much, I think Hollywood has pushed it with the interconnected movies (He’s Just Not That Into You, Valentine’s Day etc.)
Ohh you need to get your hands on some choc soy milk asap…Alpro is your go-to! And when you do, drink it after a run….you’ll never look back
! I agree about the interconnected movies but it’s still fun to see a bunch of celebs pop up on the screen! I thought Crash however was fantastic!
It’s funny, because me and my husband caught a cold in the weekend too. Suffering and trying not to give it to the baby
I almost always make my smoothie with fruits and vegetables only, but as a chocolate lover, I may have to try a chocolate smoothie.. I’m actually surprised I haven’t done it yet!?
I hope you are feeling better!
Hope you and the husband are feeling better
! As much as I love fruit smoothies, chocolate always takes thing things to the next level!
