Back to nursery

Anyone remember the good old days of AOL Instant Messenger and chain mails?  Or was that just me?  I’ve always been a fan of surveys and used to get such a kick filling them in and then forwarding them on.  When I saw a foodie-related survey, naturally I jumped at the chance.  So amuse me and read my ABC’s…and next time sing with me 🙂

A is for Apple: What’s your favorite variety?
You know you love apples when categorisation goes beyond ‘red’ and ‘green’.  Favorites for me include Pink Ladies, Granny Smiths, and Galas.

B is for Bread: Regardless of nutrition, what is your favorite type?

Oh bread – how I dig thee and the carby goodness which you impart!  Nothing beats seeded, crusty rolls which are warm & fresh out the oven.  Sorry I lie: adding buttah would make it even more irresistible.

C is for Cereal: What is your favorite kind currently? (just one!)

Do oats count?  If not, Branflakes or Oatiflakes.

D is for Donuts: You might not currently eat them, but what kind do you fancy?

Gah anything more than 3 bites and I’m in a sugar coma.  But for those few bites, it better be a glazed donut, preferably from Chocolat Royal in Nigeria.

E is for Eggs: How would you like yours prepared? Eggs are the reason I have strong bones.  I love them in every form but omelets are probably my most frequent mode of consumption.

F is for Fat Free: What is your favorite fat free product?
Fruits & vegetables, naturally (see what I did there ;)). Now where’s that duster of mine? My halo needs some polishing 😆

G is for Groceries: Where do you purchase yours?
Grocery shopping in Mumbai is pretty er pathetic boring.  It’s either a case of me ringing up the nearby shop to deliver what is needed or telling my madre what I want.   When I’m in London, however, I can spend hours at grocery stores:  Sainsbury, Tesco’s, Waitrose, Wholefoods, and M&S.

H: is for Hot Beverages: What is your favorite hot drink?
Any kind of tea except for chamomile.

I is for Ice Cream: Pick a favorite flavor and add a fun topping.
That’s like asking a mother to choose her favorite child- you just can’t!  I LOVE choc chip cookie dough but I’m going to go with vanilla–> it’s really all about the toppings right?? 😉

J is for Jams or Jellies: Do you eat them? If so, what kind and flavor?
According to Wikipedia, ‘preserves is used to describe all types of jams and jellies in North America’.   I roll with St. Dalfours’ strawberry flavor and eat some every day without fail.

K is for Kashi: Name your favorite Kashi product?
Kashi TLC honey & sesame crackers fo shiz!

L is for Lunch: What was yours today?

A bucket of salad with every vegetable imaginable, tofu, chickpeas, avocado, nori sheet crumbles and topped with sesame dressing.  Dessert was a Frusli bar and apple slices.

M is for microwave: What is your favorite microwave meal/snack?
My only use of a microwave is to heat my lunch up at work.  My mom is anti-radiation so we have never owned a micro.

N is for nutrients: Do you likes carbs, fats, or proteins best?
Love ‘em all but carbs it is–> gotta fill up my glycogen levels 😉

O is for oil: What kind do you like to use?
Pam Spray Oil or Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

P is for protein: How do you get yours?
Egg-whites, beans & legumes, soy products, chicken, fish/seafood, dairy

Q is for Quaker: How do you like your oats?

Like my men: hot and steamy.  I joke, I love oats in any form other than straight out of the box 😆

R is for roasting: What is your favorite thing to roast?
Vegetables – okra, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots

S is for sandwich: What’s your favorite kind?
Two sandwiches which never get old for me are turkey, hummus, and grated carrot or smoked salmon, cream cheese, avocado and cucumber.  Yep tomorrow’s lunch has now been decided.

T is for travel: How do you handle eating while traveling?
I tend to carry a lot of snacks to munch on the flight including a meal.  I eat far more indulgently while traveling which is fine by me: holidays are all about straying from the norm, right??

U is for unique: What is one of your weirdest food combos?
When I suggest cheese, jam and egg sandwiches, many people look at me questionably.  If you haven’t tried it, get the heck on it!

V is for vitamins: What kind do you take?
The same packet of B12 vitamins have been sitting in my desk drawer for the last 2 months.   To kick off June on the right foot, I am going to actually get poppin’.  I can hear my mom sighing with relief

W is for wasabi: Yay or nay?
Yay but only in small doses!  Too much sends my nostrils flaring.

X is XRAY: If we xrayed your belly right now, what food would we see?
An amalgamation of all sorts: remnants of the cookie I had before bed last night, this morning’s peanut butter & banana oatmeal, and today’s lunch–> it’s quite the party in my belly 😉 .

Y is for youth: What food reminds you of your childhood? Pepperami, Cheese Strings, Lunchables, Combos, NERDS, Maryland cookies, Fruit Loops, Yazu flavored milk, Nutrigrain bars, Capri-Sonne Apple Juice–>  basically any food that is void of nutrition.

Z is for zucchini: How do you prepare it?

The Table  has the most ah-mazing zucchini dish on their menu.  They spiralize it as fine as spaghetti and toss it with parmesan and almonds- unreal!

Your turn: pick a letter, any letter, and gimme some answers!

A for apple – pink lady has to be the yummiest variety out there and a close second would be granny smith.
