Holy Crepe!

**As all my other reviews, this post is 100% my opinion**

For those not familiar with a dosa, it is a yummy South Indian staple made from rice batter and black lentils.  In other words, it is our version of a crepe.  The only difference is that crepes aren’t as easily available in Mumbai.  Thanks to the opening of Suzette in Nariman Point, this gap is slowly closing. I had the pleasure of trying this creperie over the weekend..twice! Can u tell I liked loved it! 😉

Healthy eating combined with tasty food does not go hand-in-hand with Mumbai! Within 30 minutes of scanning the menu online on Friday (yeah I’m cool like that 😳 ), I already had a table booked for the same night! Crepes made from organic buckwheat flour, both gluten-free and eggless- Hells to the yes! Normally I’m not picky about organic v. non-organic foods BUT the fact that they use such healthy ingredients says a lot about the place: they clearly value good health, quality, and taste.

Although the menu is limited to savory/sweet crepes, smoothies, and salads, the variety is extensive!   Between the 2 days, I had a taste of:

  • Crepe of the day: fresh tomatoes, Mozarella, onion jam
  • Provence: olive tapenade, sundried & fresh tomatoes, herbs of Provence, olive oil
  • Italie: Roquette, tomato coulis, mozzarella, oregano
  • Foret: Pan-seared mushrooms, creamed spinach, emmenthal
  • Mixed salad with goats’ cheese
  • Carrot, raisin, orange zest salad

Each order surpassed my expectations: flavorful, fresh, wholesome! For dessert, my friend and I shared a Nutella crepe.  Holy crepe crap it was insane! We demolished all but 1 bite so teccccchhhhnically we didn’t finish it ;)!

More than just the food, the creperie succeeds in bringing a touch of France to the bay. I associate France with ‘cute cafes’ and this is exactly what Suzette is: tiny yet cosy!  Think intimate setting, wooden tables, framed posters, French books and newspapers.  The owners’ forthcoming and charming nature also enhanced the experience. Sometimes when managers/owners stop by tables for a chat, it can be a bit annoying & overbearing.  These owners had a genuine appeal and were more than helpful with menu suggestions and explaining more about their food. I’m no fortune teller but something tells me several crepes are in my future 😆 !
