Rock-bottom motivation

Despite having to wake up at 6.30 am, I find it 10 times easier to exercise on a weekday than on a weekend.  If it doesn’t happen right away, I can find it really hard to get motivated.  The longer I put off the a workout, the more likely it won’t happen…which explains why I almost never workout in the evening.  I know I’ll be fine once my trainers are on but getting out the door remains a challenge.

Am I talking about today morning? No…maybe…yes 😳 I knew I should have gone as soon as I woke up.  If only my oatmeal didn’t seem like the better option at the time.  Fortunately I did make it to the gym.  The prospect of catching up on celeb gossip mags (my guilty pleasure  ) on the cross trainer did the trick…as did remembering a few of my favorite exercise mantras.  These always help change my state of mind:

  • There are 168 hours in the week, I’m only asking for 7 of them
  • You’re just one workout away from a good mood
  • No hurt, no mini skirt
  • When your legs feel tired, run with your heart
  • Pain is temporary, pride is forever

What works for you when exercise motivation is close to zilch?

  1. I am a morning exerciser, so knowing that I won’t have to think about working out the rest of the day and can have my evening free is GREAT motivation!! I really like one of yours, “There are 168 hours in a week, I’m only asking for 7 of them.” LOVE IT!

Since I prefer to exercise in the morning knowing breakfast is waiting for me after is super motivation for me! “You’re just one workout away from a good mood” definitely works for me too 🙂
