A chocolate a day…

As catty as females can be, there’s one bond that we all share- a love for chocolate. I mean who doesn’t like chocolate?? White, dark, milk: you must have a soft spot for at least one…or, if you’re like me, all.  In no specific order, the ones that hold a special place in my heart tummy are:

Milk chocolate: Dairy Milk or Galaxy (cheap ‘n’ cheerful)

Dark chocolate: If it ain’t Swiss, give it a miss: Lindt

White chocolate: Toblerone baby (the chunks from the bigger bars always taste better)

In some form or the other, I eat chocolate every single day. No, it’s not always dark chocolate and no it’s not because it will lower my blood pressure/cholesterol or boost my mood via serotonin. I eat it because I love it…and that, my friends, is enough reason for me. In fact, for every raisin and almond in my handbag, you better believe there’s some form of chocolate to keep them company. My latest addition? Pretzel M&M’s.

Politically incorrect or not, Americans cannot do chocolate. They sure make chocolate look appealing but taste-wise, it’s pretty tragic. Hershey Kisses specifically spring to mind. Mars, however, is an exception. Those little drops of heaven known as M&M’s are in a league of their own. Just when I thought that Peanut M&M’s were irresistable, Reeses Peanut Butter M&M’s come and steal the limelight. Granted they don’t contain chocolate but they are still pretty addictive…as are the Coconut M&Ms. The latest member to the family is also representing!

I tried the Pretzel M&M’s for the first time yesterday and they definitely lived up to expectations. The combination may sound questionable but trust me on this: Mars are onto something. The slight salty presence of the crunchy pretzel balances out nicely the chocolate outer layer. More than the taste, the nutritional stats are surprising. I must have‘double checked’ the packet like 5 times: a whole 33g bag contains only 150 calories which means there’s no need for those annoyingly small ‘fun-size’ packets :).

I do apologise if I’ve sparked a craving for chocolate in you.  If it’s any consolation, yesterday was National ‘Eat Chocolate-covered Anything’ day so you better not have been a party pooper :D.
