Drink water then!! Just because water is so freely available, don’t underestimate its healing power.  With 70% of our body being made up of water, it really is the answer to everything!  Water is magic juice without the fancy label.

To be honest, I never used to be a water drinker at all.  I won’t even beat around the bush: I only started guzzling water after hearing the claim that it leads to weight loss.  Initially it sounded like poop but I still went with the flow (see what I did there? ;)).  I’ve never been one to question science:

  • Metabolizing fat is a primary function of the liver.  When the body is low on water, the kidneys cannot function properly.  Hence the liver cannot perform its role optimally as it takes on the added workload from the kidneys.  As a result, less body fat is metabolized and more is stored, ultimately leading to weigh gain or a weight loss plateau

  • Thirst and hunger sensations are triggered together.  If there is slight dehydration, the thirst mechanism may be falsely confused for hunger.  Ultimately, this can lead to unnecessary excess calorie consumption to satisfy fluid cravings.  Hence drinking water prevents overeating.

These days I drink at least 3 liters (more when I’m exercising).  Except for it being the reason for my 80 billion trips to the bathroom, I just love the stuff and feel so much better on days when my water consumption isn’t slacking.  Considering its cheap, safe, readily available and free of side-effects, you best be reaching for that bottle of H2O. Plus it’s a godsend where stains are concerned 🙂

**If you don’t like the flavor of water alone, add a flavored tea bag to your water bottle for some oomph. I’m currently loving ‘Twining’s Green tea with Orange’
