A slice of happiness

Man I’m kinda on a high tonight after dinner with one of my closest friends. Two things that majorly rock my world are good friends and good food. Don’t get me wrong, I love to blog..I love to travel..I love to find cool apps on my iTouch. I basically love a lot, but put me on a desSerted (the extra ‘S’ was not a mistake ;)) island with good friends and good food and I would be truly in a state of euphoria. Anyway back on topic, conversation was the usual banter which is, unfortunately for you, reserved for private hearing so I’ll focus on the next best thing…the grub.

Two thumbs up to Pizza Express for revamping their menu. Up until they introduced their ‘Leggera’ range recently, the thought of eating there filled me with dread- I’m hardly one of those people who are satisfied by a mere slice or 2. However the pizzas in this new range are each within 500 calories and do not skimp on taste at all. While all of them are topped with mozarella, there are 5 different varieties to choose from. I opted for a pizza topped with mozarella, torn chicken breast, peppers, spinach and mushrooms…and a splash or 15 of Tabasco. Not too shabby for 500 calories, eh? The only ‘catch’ is that the middle of the pizza is cut out and replaced with salad, which suits me fine as it prevents portion distortion without having to feel deprived. Don’t lie, you know you could easily finish a whole pizza in one sitting.

If there’s any justice in the world, you’d be able to enjoy a pizza and dessert without feeling like your healthy eating intentions have gone to pot. And the Legerra range at Pizza Express enables you to do so. Er did I mention I had a Guylian chocolate bar when I got home? I seriously have issues about ending on a sweet note. And just for the record, I am not getting paid by Pizza Express to write this; I’m just a Dorkus McForkus who gets excited when I come across healthy options.

*The icing on the cake: you can almost always find a “2-for-1” voucher online for Pizza Express. Although they are a bit cheeky for excluding weekends from the offer.
