I scream for ice cream

After cookies, my favourite indulgence has got to be ice cream.  There’s nothing more therapeutic than digging into a bowl of ice cream..a somewhat large one that is!!  In my opinion, Ben & Jerry’s Choc Chip Cookie Dough is the crème de la crème of flavours (I’m sure you didn’t see that one coming ;)).  Call me boring but a generous serving of good ol’ fashioned Wall’s vanilla would equally hit the spot.  Unfortunately, ice cream is only calorie-free in heaven so I’ve had to find yummy alternatives:

  • Frozen yogurt (Snog in London and Pinkberry in Dubai): natural & green tea swirl with strawberries and blueberries..and if I want to be ‘naughty’, I’ll also ask for Oreos (although I’m a bit neurotic in that I ask for the Oreos on the side so I can decide how many to put in)
  • Homemade frozen yogurt…i.e. stick a tub of fat-free flavoured yogurt in the freezer for a couple of hours and every 20 minutes or so, mix it with a fork to get rid of any ice crystals that form
  • Total 0% Greek yogurt mixed with a sachet of Options hot chocolate (Wicked white chocolate is my favourite) with a few chopped strawberries and a Rich Tea biscuit crushed on top

I came across a list of the ‘10 Grossest Ice Cream Flavours’. While I’m sure this post has left you craving ice cream, this might make you feel otherwise:

1. Horse ice cream (this makes me sad–yes, we’re talking ice cream made from horse meat)
2. Cold sweat ice cream (made with hot chili peppers, designed to make you sweat … a lot)
3. Astronaut ice cream (because ice cream was never meant to be freeze dried)
4. Viper ice cream (an Asian delicacy, say some, which receives its flavor from..wait for it.. snake meat)
5. Fish ice cream (apparently it’s popular in Japan, who knew?)
6. Oyster ice cream (apparently this one dates back to colonial times)
7. Ox-tongue ice cream (no words)
8. Chicken-fried steak ice cream (um, no)
9. Salad-flavored ice cream (complete with cucumber and red pepper!..I won’t lie, I want to try it!!)
10. Parmesan ice cream (are we talking about ice cream or pasta!!!)
And, finally: garlic ice cream! (just imagining it makes me want to gag)

…and you thought green tea ice cream was weird!!!
