Time to lose weight= after 7 pm?

Ever been told that the secret to weight loss is not eating past 7 PM…or even 5 PM?  Well truthfully speaking, you should stop eating at 6:51 PM Eastern Standard Time as that’s when a little switch goes off inside of you.  Eating even 1 second after that will cause anything you eat to turn right into fat and completely ruin your diet and weight loss goals.  In fact, even a spoonful of crumbs at 6:53 PM will cause your jeans to rip and scales to freeze!!!

If you haven’t picked up as yet, I’m hugely into sarcasm and above was another example of my sarcastic nature (I couldn’t resist).  In all seriousness, though, this idea of ‘not eating late at night if you want to lose weight’ is utter rubbish and purely a myth.  Weight loss ultimately comes down to consuming a specific daily calorie intake depending on your age, weight, gender, height, and activity levels.  While I may lose weight by eating 1600 calories a day, Arnold Schwarzenegger has all the luck and could probably lose weight by eating twice that amount.

All that matters is that you eat the total number of calories you’re supposed to each day and your weight will do exactly what you want it to do, no matter what time you eat any of that food.  Your body has no idea what time it is. It doesn’t wear a watch and it sure as hell doesn’t have an alarm clock set.  By purely sticking to that specific daily calorie intake, you will lose weight…regardless whether you eat those calories at 10 AM or 10 PM.

I’m sure some of you will raise the argument that that you burn more calories throughout the day and hence what you are eating.  I’m sorry to say, but for the majority of us that argument holds no ground…it takes a lot more than normal day-to-day activities to burn off every single calorie you are consuming.  I regularly eat a snack at 11 PM and sleep within an hour or two after that.

So if eating 2000 calories a day will cause you to lose weight, it really doesn’t matter if you spread those calories throughout the day or eat them all as a midnight snack…the latter may just make you feel majorly bloated and uncomfortable.
